    Cool My poor baby....

Ok strange things are starting to happen to my bike...

On the trip the other day I noticed the 'weights' on the right hand grip was loose... Thanks to the dude who tightened it up for me.
Thats the first time they have ever loosened off like that.

Today I just took the bike in for a WOF - yep she passed. and also another 6 months rego.

Got home and decided to finish cleaning her.... I had started doing it the other day after getting back from Hamilton. Well I had washed her.

I am up to the polishing and think huh whats those wee holes for... I don't recall them.... I couldnt figure out what they were for, so I continued on with my polishing. So when I got to the other side I spotted a little closed in hook... so I went back to the other side and low and behold I have discovered that I have LOST the helmet hook and lock. It works off my bike key. Ok I don't use it that often, but holy heck.... that is two little pieces that came off together.

Now I ask you how the hell do you loose one of those off a bike.

Yep I check for loose things all the time.... and the bike is always locked up in the garage at night time.... and I usually always park it where I can see it....when out and about.

Still haven't finished polishing and chroming the bike yet.... sure hope I don't find nothing else a miss.

bloody hell crashe!? you've got that thing vibrating between your legs a bit hard then haven't you. better settle it down, or you loose wing mirrors, exhausts and you'll be struggling to keep the ignition key in. was it that KB run on sat that had you all worked up??

well if I did loose it on 22 or the other road I sidetracked onto....
and if anyone should spot it...lol...
Could you stop and pick it up for me thanks.

Yeah right, so whats the chances of someone spotting a small black metal item on the road with a silver lock on it. NONE.....lol

I just can't believe it even came loose and fell off.....

Blakamin - The engine is still there...

Check your axles now. Before your next wheelie/stoppie
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Don't laugh it could happen. I've seen my engine after a ride with two missing engine mounting bolts and the others loose so the whole engine was moving around as it ran (not on my present bikes though). Old parallel twins can VIBRATE

    Yeah I reckon....

I dont think I would like to loose my footpegs thou....
Think that would have been an interesting ride home for you.

Just finished polishing her and she looks so purty....

I went to put on the new rego... no problems....
Went to put on the new WOF.. and the plastic thingee snapped in half,
at the join. Thank goddess they are only a couple of dollars....
but they only seem to last two WOF's before the snap.

Will get one at the local garage, when I head off to the Dr's.

    Been there, done that....

My f650 went through a stage when nearly everything fell off...
    now nothing falls off...
strange... can either deduce that everyting has already fallen off or i tightened them tighter... or they rusted...

Worst I've had fall off a bike was when I was on the way to school on the pushie about 16 years ago, front brake handle fell off and went straight behind the front forks, since I cycled as a sport back then, I was going about 45kph, i went straight over the handlebars(as you do) and my head piledrived into the concrete, well, my helmet-clad head did, split the heltmet clean in half, aside from a sore neck, I was fine, bike wasn't...

Handlebars fell off my Tbird once , when I was riding it. Going along the Waipu straights, I thought the handling was a bit odd, but then Triumph handling always was odd.

Stopped in Wangarei for petrol. Gassed up, went to pull the bars around for a tight turn out, and the right hand half of the handlebar pulls straight out of the clamp mount (brake lever, switches, twistgrip etc still attached . I'm sitting there waving this half handlebar around. Give the left hand half a hard pull and it comes away too.

Bar was drilled for internal run wiring with a hole at centre bottom. Bar had cracked right through at the hole . I guess over a few miles the vibrations (it *was* a Triumph !) and me levering on the bars loosened the clamps enough to pull out.

I felt a right dork sitting there with two half handlebars dangling down.

Fortunately, in those days Wangarei had a bike shop. A quick trip round there on the back of my mates BSA, and return with a new pair of bars. Without a central hole. I've distrusted internal run wiring ever since.
