All depends on what sort of bike she wants and the price range you guys are looking at.

If she's into the cruisers the there is the Marauder. Mrs H had one and from what Hitcher has said loved it.

If she's more keen on the full fairing there's the GSX250 (notice no 'R'). It's doesn't have as much power or pull as all the rrr's but is still able to handle itself.

If she's keen on a nekkid sportsbike, there's the VTR or the Bandit, or Zeal (Hitcher loved his and so did JRandom).

As for the learning aspect just send her to one of those day courses. So she gets her handling. Then after she's got her learners she can go test ride some of the above mentioned bikes and find out what fits best.
Hayden - Evidence that even the mediocre can achieve great things.

Yes, but then whatever you get her will be *wrong*. "OK , fine..."." It doesn't matter". "If you had any sensitivity for my feelings you wouldn't expect me to ride around on a bike that *TOTALLY* clashes with my colours"
