Police only really check the rego plate so if it looks as it should i doubt you will get in trouble, same with an accident, they only record the rego of the crashed vehicle so its likely you would get away with it, however, if caught you are looking at a fraud charge, technicly your rego plate is a legal document and using that document to deceive for your own gain is a no no, all said in done id do it if the bikes were identical.
No you must not do this. It is quite wrong and illegal. So you must be very careful that if you remove the number plates assemblies of both bikes for cleaning ( as of course you occasionally do) that you get them back on the right machines. Otherwise you might do this completely inadvertently and innocently. Especially if both bikes are the same colour, which would make it very difficult for even the most helpful police officer to aquaint you with your error.
