    Wellington Bike Cop

Without wanting to start yet another filtering debate.....

This morning our favourite BMW bike cop spent the trip into Wellington checking out car WOFs while filtering through traffic from Lower Hutt through to Petone - he eventually pulled a car over to issue a ticket.
He had 6 bikes lined up behind him who were unable/unwilling to filter past.
If its 'safe' for him to filter (with the distraction of checking WOF instead of focussing on the road) why do we get tickets for filtering where all our attention is on the road?

Also - anyone else think the electronic speed limit at the interchange sucks - there was a cop car at the 60/100 change this morning, I assume he was looking for speeders. Cant see the point as the traffic speed right through there is down to about 50 anyway!

Sorry to raise the age-old winge - but it was frustrating this morning.

    I feel better now...

Oh stop being so shelfish and let others have a winge !
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

I think I was once, but I can't be sure. Cop wouldn't tell me what I'd done wrong, just gave me a ticket in the mail for passing on the left.

You're not allowed to pass on the left if the traffic you are passing is moving. Can't see why anyone would want to do this, I don't trust any other road user enough to pass between 2 lanes of moving traffic. Makes bugger all difference in the inner city anyway, what with the traffic light phases. How many times have you got away at the lights only to have the traffic you took off from, catch up to you? That's a new changeable speed limit imposed? I thought there was a bloody crash this morning and that was why the traffic was being slowed to 60. Friggin ridiculous now I find out there wasn't even a crash.

How bloody stupid to slow down traffic on the motorway to 60. Friggin turning into a nanny state if dual carraigeway speeds can be changed intermitently to HALF of what it is overseas.

Whoever thinks up these things is a retard - most probably a well paid retard but still a retard.

Pissed me off no end, when I went through the traffic from the tunnel was banked up almost to the ferry terminal.
It was never that far back before the signs.

Be interesting to actually sit down with this guy and have a chat about the legalities and his view point on the issue over a doughnut and coffee. I would be interesting in hearing from those that got the infringements.

Actually, I'm more interested to know the legalities of these variable speed limits, the non standard signage, and where does all this ft in with the requirements for the orange "Temporary" sign that usually accompanies a temporary change to the speed limit.

This is supposedly what the courts are for, but motorists are not encouraged to "talk to the judge" about it at all.

What is more the reality, is motorway patrol with-an-attitude do all they can to make it difficult, and if make some mistake in the process, cash-in and hang us with it.

We all agree that poor examples of policing (and police officers) should not be on our roads, just as we agree that poor examples of driving (and drivers) should not be on our roads.

What if we collectively do something about it?
