Well you guys are lucky. Up here you try to lane split and cars will move over on you. Yup.... they're jealous so they see you coming and they "close the door". There were 3 of us on bikes and the one guy's fan stopped working, so we had to split a HUGE traffic jam.... old guy in a pick-up (ute) pulling a trailer sees me coming and just moves right over.... we dipped from the middle to the shoulder and passed him that way. Jack@$$!

The strangest incident I had was in southern France. I mean in southern France they are VERY VERY motorcycle friendly. To the point that they move over for you to pass in places where you'd rather not do it, but they try so hard, you kinda go past them because they are being so polite about it. Anyway, I'm 2 up with the wife on a F650GS, going to pass a Kangoo or something like that.... on a proper pass and the dude just moves over. At first I was like WTF, maybe he just drifted over by accident .... then again and this time he really swung wide. A guy that saw this happen on a CB1000 streetfighter started going ape on the van. I just kept behind until the van turned off. That was very strange.

The cars and trucks let you pass thing happens here quite frequently too. On nearly every ride I have a friendly motorists driving nearly down the bank and waving me through. All i can do is say thank you to those guys. I appreciate it

Of course there are the others, that do everything to make your life miserable. However, the good guys are far more than the black sheep. They just stay longer in your memory.

Possibly because they constantly get pissed off by riders filtering past them in traffic and overtaking them at stupid speeds on the open road. Their problem. The only trouble I have had lately was with a petrol tanker driver. Traffic stationary on off ramp due to roadworks, big queues, me sliding down the inside very slowly to turn left at the exit where everyone else turns right. Tanker driver obviously saw me coming so pulled hard over to block my passage. Arsehole.

Like I've said many times before: It's their own stupid fault for being in a cage during rush hour traffic. It's like sticking your hand into a fire and expecting not to get burnt.

    Sounds about right

Maybe it's related to the fact that they try to kill us so often. Four yesterday, fairly typical.

Happens a couple of tomes a week. What do you think footpaths are provided for?

They try. Doesn't mean they succeed. After so many years it's just part of life's rich tapestry.

At least twice a week someone tries to take me out. Not on purpose mind, but lane changes without checking, failing to give way at an intersection. All the things you should expect on a bike and things you can't really blame the drivers for. Well you could if you were that way inclined, but what's the point ? You'd end up getting stressed and posting to a forum about it.

Well, let's see now. The four that day :

Bus pulled out from a stop, fact that I was along side him in the space he was about to occupy didnt bother him. But I'd assumed he'd do something like that, I assume all bus drivers are homicidal cretins, and made sure I had room to my right. No problem.

Cager did the same thing on the motorway , swung right directly into the space I was in. No signal but the spidey knew he was going to do it before he did . Full gauntlet took me clear in plenty of time and into lane 1a. I think I managed to land a boot on his mudguard on the way through. Standard stuff.

Going round a roundabout, two lane road entering roundabout ahead. Cage in outer lane gives way was required, moron in inner lane blasts up the inside, no way he can stop in time when he sees me . Fortunately spidey had creepy sensed him way back up the hill and I was slowed right down waiting for him. He stopped with a screech of tyres and a horrified look right in the middle of the roundabout , so I rode round the front of him, shook my fist at him and reminded him of his lack of parentage, just on principle. No sweat.

Trundling through a green traffic light, road to the left has a free left turn, bus takes free turn at high speed. Which would have been fine, except that instead of turning left lane into left lane, he drifted right across into the right lane. Which is full of me. Illegal of course but see comments re bus drivers above. But spidey is real good at vector analysis and had creepy sensed him in plenty of time. Round the back of the bus, slip between a couple of cages, ho hum. Pulled up beside bus at next lights and bashed on his door a couple of times just to remind him that's he's a sub human, he stared straight ahead .

All in all just a normal day in Auckland traffic, just part of life's rich tapestry, but not likely to engender any feelings of brotherly love toward cagers.
