SAIS - Wozzit all about then?

The vixen has this SAIS (Suzuki Advanced Immobilizer System in case you're wondering) system in it dunnit? I tried giggling it (errr googling I mean) but didn't find a lot.

Any know about this system? Wozzit do an' izzit any good at anything? (Apart from the pretty blinking red light that is...)

The bike won't start without the correct key, as the key will have a transmitter in it that 'talks' to the immobiliser before it lets the bike start. It means that it's almost impossible to hot wire your bike.

Means that if you lose your key a replacement costs $2000 and can only be obtained from your local bike theft ring

Not quite as bad a Ixion says lol but yeah don't lose your key. On some bikes it requires a replacement ecu, which would be very painful.

Riiiiiiiight. More or less what I thought then...better stick the spare in the bank vault...or maybe insure the key separately.

Guess it doesn't stop the thieves hauling the bike onto a trailer and fucking off with it though huh..?

Honda has their own system & can work out very expensive if you loose both keys
BUT my Honda key has a special tag with a long number on it.
If I loose all keys I
1. buy a new Honda blank
2. head to lock shop with key tag number & he looks up his secret file and cuts the key
3. head back to Honda dealer who plug into my bike computer, also using key tag number and code new key id into the security system.

I am lead to believe that the bike computer can only be coded with 3 ?? (small number) of keys in its entire life. If you go over that number costs $3k ?? for some new hardware.

Oh and Honda call their system HISS

Yep. It should help lower your premium as it's an immobilser. Make sure they put down that it has one......

Oh, and note all that has been said about the key......get 8 copies. lol.

My bike has an anti-theft device built in to it.

It has "Hyosung" printed across the back of the pillion seat.

Dunno if it was the 1st but the 94+ nsr has a "swipe card" that's coded to the bike, similar to these coded keys you're talking about, the benefit of using a card instead of a key is there's no barrel for the muppets thieves to destroy trying to start it.

Course the real good news is Honda don't make the swipe cards anymore , can't wait till i've lost both my cards Will be cheaper to buy a whole bike by then.

My Suzuki K7400 Burgman has this system. Makes one super carefull with keys. I found out what SAIS stood for by asking on this site
some time ago. As usual I got the answer right away. Burgmans in some other countries do not have this feature.
The only advantage I can see is the flashing light tells skum that it is protected. This light stops flashing after 24 hours if the ignition is not activated.

my CBR suppoused to only have 4 keys in all its life and then its new ECU time...but there is way to replicate keys so you can have as many as you want...just google it, i think its same for hornets

also american market bikes dont always have hiss so you can buy barrel/keys + ECU from a wreck on ebay for few hundo (not saying to do that now but worst case scenario if you manage to loose them all)
