District. Operation Centreline is about to kick off and will target all

traffic offending with an emphasis on overtaking, failing to keep left,

careless and dangerous driving and slow driving.

I guess it may depend on his definition of careless, dangerous etc (overtaking ? Since when was that illegal)

But,on the face of it it spines a sensible and intelligent approach .at lead its refreshing to have something other the demon speed in the sights

I just hope that's how it actually plays out. Hopefully no long-haul video taping sessions either. Rather not have our police borrow any ideas from Sussex.

I can attest to a hidden speed camera on the Desert Rd.

Pehaps all that is left to get these people's attention is the smack on the bottom approach?
I agree to a certain extent, but those you mention who would not take any notice probably have not had the early (very early) 'directional adjustments'. It takes much patience and tenacity to bring up well-rounded, empathetic children. So many parents can't be arsed and ye shall reap what thou sows.

Are you sure it wasn't a hidden desert on the Camera Road?

If it was, I hope he didn't desert it. Such a waste.

I can accept all that if they also start to give a little responsibility back to the road users as well and stop treating everybody like fucking braindead morons!

I.E. Raise the speed over areas where higher speed is obviously not dangerous.

I believe the speed limits need to be updated.

There was a thing about it on tv, that those speed limits especially the cornering speeds were based on the technology and automobiles of back then. and by back then yea it means BACK then, not just 10 years ago.

even though in the last 10 years the auto industry has developed incredible. so those speed limits become obsolete.

For example......speed limit of 50 on a wide, open stretch of road. what the hell is that?
maybe for the wagons back then. but for a modern bike or car that is pretty much not even moving.

Maybe its not the people going faster being the problem, maybe its the speeds they refer to as "limits"

Fuckin' bollocks. More like filling the coffers.

If some education went in at the top of the cliff you wouldn't need 'covert tactics' to fund the ambulance at the bottom of the cliff.
I dunno if i'd agree on this being an ambulance at the bottom of the cliff........

To me it does read as hard but genuine. The man in charge of this is'nt responsible for the poor driver testing, and there's definitely enough info and advertising out there for the public on these issues.

Agree. Problem is, a person is smart, but people are stupid! (It'd absoluely blow the minds of some retards out there!)

I do find in the cage, that most corners are reasonably well paced, most of the time you can go faster. There's no law saying you must take the corner at that posted speed, as long as you stay at the limit it's fine.(I take it you were taking about the speed advisory signs on corners) They are actually set with a G'force meter, and is reasonable for old myrtle, or the big truck that does need to slow down. Remember not all new vehicles are 2010 Holden Commodores/whathaveyou. (bikes do'nt count, they'll always be able to go quicker around the corner)

Also the 50km speed limits in a lot of places could be raised. However you need to remeber that even though technology has improved, our reactions are still just as slow. ie. to avoid pedestrians etc

I am left wondering what is it the cops will be targeting if not speed - which they are very expert at?

So what is this all about?
    Here for the ride.

On the TV news they showed a cop with a video camera; what will that capture that will target poor driving? Can't be speed -too fast or too slow, could be crossing a center line, passing on a yellow? They are unlikely to capture on video a car driving on the other side of the road looking for a head on smash. snip...
They could start with red lights, stop signs, junctions, last minute lane changes, the drivers that sit in the right lane at the lights knowing they want to be in the left but hope they can cut up the cars on the inside and screw everyone else. etc etc etc
