eek Anyone else hate SH2 from Wellington to the Hutt?

Not to sound negative or anything but I really am sick of SH2 from Wellington city to the Hutt valley. I do it just about every day (luckily against rush hour traffic) it's very dangerous so you have to have your wits about you, it's usually gusty and cold there's corners but no fun corners.

Oh and now it has cheese cutters too! so it's even more exiting.

I know, I know. Just harden the f up and get over it. But I can't be alone in the dislike of this road, is it ok for a grown man to cry over a stretch of road?

    I hear ya.

I use to cycle from Silverstream to Welly every day. After too many near misses and my Boss being killed I stopped and got the Bandit. I split everyday so up the steaks with respect to risk. However the road conditions and unpredictable nature of the drivers can at times be,,,, interesting.

To be honest the cheese cutters don't worry me as much as binning over the top of the armco between Thorndon and Aotea. I have periodic flashes of skidding along the top and bouncing off and in-between the posts holding the armco up - Mental but hey its my fear lol.

SH2 is my highway to happiness. It takes me over my beloved Rimutakas to the awaiting highways and byways of the Wairarapa. When I'm done over there, it brings me home again.

The stretch of road is quite possibly, the most, unenjoyable piece of asphalt ever laid by a polynesian road worker in this hemisphere.

Man that would have kept you fit! I've ridden the push bike a few times before the green carpet got rolled out. It's not much fun on a bicycle and you have to spend more quality time with SH2. Taking the train seems to be the most enjoyable way of passing through there.

Ha - try doing it by car for a while and it soon becomes awesome on the bike!!! (been commuting UH to Wgtn CBD by bike for last 4 years) - I enjoy the Melling/Belmont/Avalon traffic light grand-prix's too!

I've also walked it once, the road noise from the cars and trucks drives you insane. It's an ok road if you don't have to commute on it as your probably on your way over the big hill and it's just a short bit in a much longer journey.
