Just found this website . While applauding the ACC for putting effort into Scooters, I don't seen any evidence of the same interest in the non scooter class.

I hardly get the point of scooters any more. Rego is the same as a bike, need a WOF like a bike, why not just get a bike?
Scooters used to be an economical little loophole - not any more.

"What Steve said pretty much summed it up."
"I did axactly as you said and it worked...!!"
"Wow, Great advise there DB."
WTB: Hyosung bikes or going or not.

Well, they have had the Ride Forever site for quite some time. (http://www.rideforever.co.nz). And the scooter one does seem fairly scooter focused. I suspect that many scooter riders would pass over a site focused on bigger bikes, thinkinbg it of little relevance.
The stuff on the site seems OK .

And yes, there is a day coming where all motorbikes will be treated equally. The 2kW thing is totally nonsense, and being able to register a moped without it being inspected is just a joke. Then letting it get around with no WoF, well, the sooner that loophole closes the better.
Imagine this. This may ring a bell, as I've banged on about it before. A total numpty who has never driven so much as a go kart goes and sits his learners car licence. Fresh from having passed, he goes to the moped shop, plonks down his cash, and his first experience of ever controlling a vehicle in traffic is riding a low powered moped in heavy traffic.
Can this ever really be thought to be a good idea?
So there.
A kid can go wobble around come cones at under 20kph with NO car licence get a 6l and go find a something like this http://www.bikez.com/motorcycles/apr...s_250_2000.php
with NO restriction on modifying it any further!!
The ONLY time they get asked to show ANY very low level roadcraft is the 6R test.
So what's the difference between a 6L rider and a class 1 on a moped?
The 6L is limited by to fear of getting caught over 70kph (big LoL) and the moped is physically restricted to 50kph, 10kph lower than the average speed of regular traffic.
No compulsion to do any formal training for the 6l either.
The whole thing is messy and needs some thought. (bigger LoL)
