    50s/60s Triumph brakes?

    Rebuilding my T110.... off the road since 1997....don't want to rush these things.

    Will a late 60's tls fit into a full width pre unit front hub, or would I need to fit the later hub/wheel?
    also interested in a 5 speed box internals.

    Aaaahhhh,maaaybe.A TLS backing plate will fit into the hub of a SLS of a similar year...but not sure about going back to pre unit.But given Edward Turner's reluctance to change any design,and to not maximise the use of every single component...I'd hazard a guess that it would.The fact that the 5 speed will fit into any 4 speed case with only some minor work is the legacy of Turner's influence.

    Um. Full width hub? The TLS were 8 inch most of the pre units were 7 inch. But I have seen it done. From very very vague memory the plate fits the hub but you have to foo foo around with the strutty thing that stops it all spinning round. And I'm not sure that they didn't change axle diameters somewhere along the way, but that wouldn't be too hard to compensate for. But realistically, the SLS wasn't a bad unit if it was set up right. Might be as easy to use a Goldie 8 inch SLS .

    EDIT: 8 inch SLS from 57 on apparently. And yes, the later TLS fits in

    Just be a bit careful - the pre unit front ends a tad on the spindly side - the std front guard makes a good fork brace but theres a reason why you see lots of PU's with later front ends.

    Just do it stockish and enjoy it for what it is - loverly...

    The 5 speed box will fit but just have to grind a bit out of the case for the camplate.

    you can get new stantions hard chromed and also proper fork seals.
    do they flex???
    I want to keep it stockish looking so a later front end is not really on.

    I once built a Triumph front end out of a very mixed bag of bits.It was for a sidecar,and used the duplex frame which had less rake,then used raked yokes to get even less trail,fitted some early unit forks,with an 18in wheel with 7in full wide hub,and put a 7in twin leading shoe brake from a Daytona on it.Proof that you can just pick a bit from there,and another bit from there,and put them into this bit here.I pity the people who ever end up with a bike I have owned.
