Keep the weekend part time wanna be drivers under control, looks like it worked (touches wood) as only one fatality thus far!

Personally I set the cruise control to 95kmph and arrived at my destination prolly 5 mins later than usual .............big deal, I cant see what the fuss is about, keep your speed under the 100 kmph limit if you dont want a ticket, if you dont care and drive over the limit, get a ticket !! thats what my thinking is.
A lot of cagers think that way. I presume you complied with the standard customs and tool care to speed up on passing lanes to ensure you were not overtaken

I want to know how many tickets were issued over the weekend comparatively....
doesnt it stand to reason that if the issued more tickets than usual (because of the new tolerance) then the decreased road toll is not becuase of a reduction in speed? (because obvioulsy ppl didnt slo down if they are being ticketed)

if there is less tickets than normal issued then it shows that this idea of lowering the speed of vehicles on the road does save lives.

Its hard to argue against what has happened.

Nearly all men can stand adversity and hard time, but if you want to test a mans true character, give him power....

Actually alot of "road users" think that way, me being one of them.

    You presume to much.

When I speed (and I do on the bike) I risk a ticket, my risk= my penalty, I am in control of that not the cop

your speedo might say that but how correct is it? I see a lot of those digital display machines on teh roads in 50kmh areas telling what speed your doing (presume they're more accurate than the speedo) but only once have i seen one on the open road. why dont they put them on the open road so we can see where our speedos are at????

Okay, so why is there so much carping on KB about the police who never do anything but write tickets?

    Yay The Cops.
Take credit that some unrelated bullshit worked when the toll is low,it's some other reason when it's high.
Ensure none of the funding is diverted to something that will actually works like driver training.
Pave the way for a lower speed limit so that diminishing revenues from tickets will once again rise.

The weekend's toll had nothing to do with the fact that there was fuck all traffic on thre roads did it?

Do that at your peril. They're not.

Can't argue that the toll was so low because of a simple 5kph reduction in tolerance. Too simplistic. Too many other factors at work.

Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Had a great weekend watching my lovely speedo in the cage and on the Scarlett.

Cop 1# - flashing lights pulling some poor fella over in a 50 zone
CopChick 2# - Pointing her camera at me on the southern motorway. Fun part is she was parked half on the grass bit of the onramp with the nose of the car sticking right across the Emergency lane! (Sorry, no photo, but it did happen, honest!)

While putting along I did have some thoughts. If my going 5km slower saved even one life, it would be worth the hassle. And yes the toll is very low and the cops are singing from their tree branches and we are very likely to see this 'Zero Tolerance' (even though its not 0 its 5km - but I degrees) scheme implemented. Sad thing is, when next year pops around and the law of averages bumps the road toll up to 'normal' levels then they will have some other target in mind. Slippery slope I tell ya!

Still comes down to speed, get a ticket, don't speed don't.

Because they are morons and facts should never get in the way of a good trolling thread.
