you only have one license, car and bike are classes on your license, like truck, forklift etc

Even bigger irony is that if you had no licence for bike at all it wouldnt cost any demerits....eg. first time i got pulled up on my GSF400 was when i had no licence and all i got was $400 and cop was angry that they cant take my car licence away from me...then i got learners and it went down hill from there, demerits and fines for "L plates" "cc ratings" etc....realy truely retarded system.

But worse ... I also got stung later in April (before LTSA caught up with me) at 109 klicks heading for Whakatane around the Rotorua Lakes in an 80 klick zone ... 35 points ... those points don't drop off with my suspension ... so I won't be starting from zero when I get my licence back ... I'll still have 35 demerits ...

    I think I'll invest in a radar detector !!!!
I got told it worked like that but.....

    I managed to get 145points

    lost licence for 3 months

    got it back
rung 0800 demerit number and they tell me I on 0 points and they get reset to 0 when you get your licence back.

seems the rules are pretty unclear - even for those running the show

correct, but you pay seperately for each one, and get tested seperately for each one. Still seems stupid that you can lose them all for an infringment in one.

You have one license 'card' but you pay for the separate license endorsements. So when you lose your license, consider it losing your license card.

I thought that was changing to only taking 100 demerits off after a suspension

Tell me how is this not retarded...where having no licence endorsement is better for you than having "learners"?
Seriously its just stupid to get $400 fine maximum for no endorsment....vs. getting $400 for no L plate (used to be) $400 for riding 250+ cc and another fine for possibly riding at night and all the corresponding demerits which add up to pretty much suspension right away.

Cause if you have no licence you are forbidden to drive and if caught driving again the vehicle you are driving is impounded for 28 days.

And you only get one lot of demerits per stop.

That is true... but breaching conditions of the licence have now gone up to 35 points per offence, so you could be loosing licence (if on learners) pretty much in one "stop" so you are almost in same situation (fines have gone down, which is good though)

I've heard you can lose your drivers licence also if you're caught drunk on a pushbike. Is this true? (obviously not if you don't have a drivers licence).

No. As the scaley gentlewoman said (correctly for once - I must go and have a little lie down, this is unprecedented), only the "highest ranking" offence in each stop is counted for demerits. Of course, the cop could stop you, give you a ticket for too many cc, let you go , follow you for a kilometre, stop you again, give you another ticket , and more demerits, cos it's a separate stop , for having a passenger, rinse lather repeat.

Normal cops, only one lot per pull over. Not a good idea to rely on it though. Strictly, if you get stopped for breach of licence, the cop can require you to remedy the breach immediately or walk home. Not so bad maybe if the breach is carrying a passenger (sucks to be your pillion, but) , but a bit trickier if it's too big a bike, or after hours.

Realy? Interesting...didnt know that, so last time i got stoped i recieved following: Incorrectly displayed plate $200 and 25 points + riding 1000cc on restricted $100 and 35 points...i paid the 1000cc one and iam contesting the plate thing in court (october) so i have already lost the points for the 1000cc (and iam on 100 because of it) but even if i loose the plate thing(even if i do its still worth my time to tell office ACD868 that he is a dickhead in person)...i shouldnt loose any more points??? Correct? Or is it all up to MR.Judge to decide since i wanted court?

Probably bit hard to know...but will be interesting how it works out...

That's my understanding. Not sure how it works if you go before a judge though. The plate being only 25, should be subsumed by the 35 you've already clocked for the cc.
