It all seemed pointless after they did away with MPH.
100 mph - now that was SPEED!
161.6kph, or whatever, doesnt seem the same, really.......

....more like an everyday occurance with no particular skills involved.....

Riding doesn't start till 200k down here & most of the people that CRY about speed cann't ride well enough to do 200k . Most on here & myself that can ride Fast do it were you want put others in danger Eg on the Track or back roads ,
May be safer to go home & play with your Barbie Doll
Car driver looks in mirror, bike 100 metres behind. pulls out to turn right. At same moment biker looks at speedo, notes speed, 200ks. looks up. Bike now 34metres behind car and still doing 200ks. Reaction time, say 15 metres. whoops, shit. sorry, no second attempts. O.K. Who's next.
The guy ahead of you can't see your speedo. At legal speeds he would have been o.k. Now he's got a dead biker, a wrecked car and a guilty concience wondering if he was to blame. KBrs rave about another dumb cager and biker gets a hero's funeral... Nuff said!!!

all the crap about riding with newbies is a case in point , i am an experrienced racer , rider and am fast , belive it if you want , don't care , but have no prob riding with new riders cause 200ks is for idiots anyway and I want to live past xmas
    any thoughts??????
I THRASH my bike on the road as often as POSSIBLE, but only when no one is looking

200ks is not for idiots, whats wrong with you today... plenty of places (around here) to safely break past 200k ON THE ROAD with only minimal danger to ME, you or others. I say minimal because there is danger doing anything... yes anything on the road or TRACK!

But i agree with the other comments, over taking cars whilst doing excessive speeds is not a good idea... I prefer to slow down... over take casually, then when clear of the vehicle CRANK THAT SUCKA BACK UP TO 250!!!! DAMMMN!!!!

You CAN ride FAST and be safe! Just not everyone practises the same saftey rules.

mmmm thai curry time... green anyone?

I used to think there were some safe places to speed round here to , until I rode all the same roads on a push bike , took my head out of my arse , and noticed all the hazards even in the middle of nowhere

you cannot ride fast ( 250 is fast) and be safe , some may be safer than others maybe but there are plenty of other idiots out there to make up for your superhuman riding ablities

how many guys do youy know who have fallen off at 200 plus on the road and still look pretty or are alive , may still be dangerous on the track but least ya not going to hit a car , bank , road sign , armco etc etc

seems like every night on the news we hear about more new laws to combat the boy racer problem , unless we sort our shit out it will be the biker problem soon

Sort of agree... But sometimes there is a time and a place... I dont go over 160kmh on group rides, but i do ride fast around corners. But those speeds around those corners are at a speed where i am within my limits and the bikes limits allowing for objects that need adjustment mid corner...

Yes i have done high speed (260+) but that was on a deserted road where i knew it well and the amount of traffic on it. I dont wank on about it though...

I dont even wank on about passing Derek Hill around the outside at Manfield...

    about speed

Hey if all you guys are wanking on about speed i would like to see how you would go going slow now that is macine controll anyone can crank the throttle open not knocking it but time and place like to see how some of you would go on a trials bike doing a figure 8 on the pegs at full lock with clutch fully disengaged and keep doing it lock to lock also helps you become a more skilled road rider on your bike
    Phone Kerry on 815 8384

It's hard to speed when the bike is slow. Fastest I've been on the 250 is 175kph (on the track)

And trials riders are awesome especially some of the indoor stuff

Yes Kerry - we know you have a side car.
You point is valid about trials skills at sub walking speed.

You know I never ride fast or do anything silly, illegal or dangerous - and I only buy penthouse for the articles.

Can you do true figure 8's on the R65? The K75 I can't they turn into sort of circles with a curvey bit between, like spectacles, because for you to hold it on full lock you have to be going so fast that you just can't get it back upright and cranked over the other way quickly enough. Tis a fearsome thing to see an RT going in full lock circles ! Li'l rat Bike can do true 8's , even though full lock is faster than a trials bike, but that's just cos it's so light and low slung.

240 on the track!!! I thought most people here clocked their best speeds on the track. I'm not a fast rider and I know you don't have to be fast to do 200 either.
I think anybody can do 200 on the straight at Puke given they're not on a moped of course.
I've not been riding too long but I've come to know alot of very sensible riders on this site.
I'm curious as to why the originator of this thread is so up in arms about the KBers?
The issue being argued is forever an ongoing one..... There are groups of riders out there that ride with alot of experience amongst them - I'm not saying they can ride faster than the experieced and fast capabilities of this threads originator, but some of them can hold their own.
These guys are riding 1000's and are moving at their comfortable speeds and within their comfort zones built up over years of riding.
The issue is: what happens when an inexperienced 250cc rider joins a group of experienced 600cc & 1000cc riders who will remain riding within their experienced limits?
Too often, the 250cc rider pushes their limits and beyond.

To be honest, Its an argument I'm sick of hearing about. It's also an argument that has loss of life attributed to it.

Personally, I don't mind riding with 250's. Then again, I don't mind doing a full days ride without wringing the throttle! But thats not for everyone.

    BRING ON TRACKDAY!!!!!!!!!
