COLD....I HATE THE COLD!!!!!!!!!

Any of you riders out there ride to work everyday in the frezzing cold...any still enjoy riding.

I find my self disliking bikes while I sit there like a ice cube. Its so cold and not nice....even though I have warm riding gear I still feel the cold.

I HATE THE COLD....summer is a whole different story

Don't notice it on the Whale. Warm air from radiator keeps me warm (in summer it's a pain - too hot.)

I actually don't mind the cold too much. It makes wearing gear more comfortable temperature wise.

I was actually thinking about it the other week and I think m/c and scooter riders tend to be safer in the winter due to being "forced" to dress more appropiately were as in summer the number of shorts and t-shirt rides is much higher.

The only times I dislike "the cold" is when I don't wear the appropriate clothing, otherwise it's not a problem. Wearing thermals underneath your gear, as has been suggested, is a brilliant idea to keep all you summer-addicts happy!

Cold in Gisborne? Cripes mate don't let the SI boys here you complaining.

Get some good cold weather gloves and gear. I commute all year round and it makes all the difference if you've got decent gear.

Just watch out for the ice on those frosty mornings.

Only problem I found was my fingers would freeze on frosty mornings at 100km/h. I noted that my toes were fine, just my fingers froze. Not even two layers of thermnals under a larger pair of gloves helped.

I managed to solve it by wearing polar fleece mittens under simple waterproof shell mittens - my fingers kept each other warm as my toes did.

OK, I get a cold blast of air up under the visor that's usually open a crack to stop fogging but it's nothing to worry about - not even on the frosty mornings at 100km/h.

Winter time I wear thermals under my clothes anyway, and on the bike I usually wear a balaclava or ski mask under the helmet.

Summer can be worse - I can add layers in winter to warm up, but I can't very well remove too many layers in summer. OK and fine when you're moving at a decent pace but being stuck in traffic in the hot sun - Ugh, I'll take a cold winter morning over that any day.

Well I have learnt a few things, buy thermals, don't be a "girlie man" and never talk to south islanders about the cold winters of Gisborne. I find the cold thighs and cold wind coming in the visor the most annoying part of riding in the cold mornings.

Well I will harden up and buy some thermals and BE A MAN.

Good to hear some thoughts about it though

in the mornings when i do earlies i take the bike because its warm from when i leave the house till i get indoors at work, i dun have to wait for the car to heat up 1st. Mainly coz of the gear tho (thank Sparky Bills)
