could you not just take it on the chin and pay 20 bucks for a new mirror? Sux big time, I know, but for the sake of how much, is it worth it? If the bike was really munted like the crank case split etc, then fuckin go ape and I'd be backin ya, but for a mirror? hate to say it, but pick your battles.. Just pay up and bite your tongue. Tis shit, but it's 20 bucks.. Hound the crap out of her, get her insurance details if you can, but it's a mirror..

Remove said resevior and bit of pipe -go to waitamata Hydraulics and get a length of clear piping that will fit over the connection to the master cylinder and is resistant to brake fluid.(200mm ish long) Youll also need a cap or bung to go in one end of it.
use a hose clip to secure it to it onto the master cylinder.
Fill the tube with brake fluid and bleed the brakes. (shouldnt take mere than a couple of pumps) Refill the tube with fluid as needed.zip tie the tube to the
Frame rail or similar so it doesnt flop around. Put a 1.0mm hole in the bung or cap. fit it on the end of the tube.
VERY IMPORTANT--check the fluid level every 1000km
This will work and you will get a wof provided it isn't visible.
It isn't a pressurised section of the brakes so wont need high pressure tubing.

nah mate it's not that simple - otherwise Death or Kerry from Motohaus would have recommended it ages ago.Originally Posted by WINJA
It's a proper part
That;s what I needed to find out - if it's a $20 part then this is the last you'll hear of it.Originally Posted by bugjuice
But if I'm gonna need to get a $50-100 dollar mirror - or something then I'm not gonna pay it.
You still think so??Originally Posted by FROSTY
have a look at the diagram earlier.
It's a $14 bit of rubber about 1 inch long that should be here from Japan "any time soon"
How does the plastic bit attach to the cylinder ? I would have thought that any engineering shop could run up something in copper for $20.Originally Posted by justsomeguy
Or, if you have the broken bits , Araldite should do the trick. It's not pressurised.
Prolly not worth bothering now since the kosher bit must be near, but might have saved some grief (and presumably you have no rear brake at present ?)

I agree with ixion. The plastic tube must connect to the metal housing somehow. Most likely it threads in. So unthread it and get a plug thats the right thread with a right angle on it -then do the plastic tube trick
