DR650 front disc pads - What is best?

Did a search and trolled through heaps of threads but nothing specific.

After yesterdays track day the Front disc pads are shot, any DR riders (or others) found any particular pad or brand to wear better and brake well?

Always seems to be a compromise but no point in reinventing the wheel.

I've got a set of sintered EBC's on at the moment, I think they're the R version. I've had them for 15,000k's and they're pretty much done, i'm not a spirited rider though.

Do they do HH's for the DR650?

Passing sprotsbikes at the track onna SMR = Ho Hum

Passing sprotsbikes at the track onna Dog Rooter = Priceless

I just use the Premier brand ones the local shop stocks on the similarly sized 640 front setup, they seem to work & last OK. But I'd be interested to know what else has worked well in similar applications as I need a new set soon.

    Cheers

    SMR and Goodies = $28k

    DR and Goodies = $5k

Murphy and his pack of bastid mates.. = Imminent failure

Would love to take the SMR round Levels but if I binned it... well .... thankfully the fun saved me from the and told me to take the DR, that is what it is for and ADV riding.

Yeah it is a spongy sacka spuds and way underpowered compared to the SMR but yeah passing big roadies around the outside with a peg and knee on the floor has that bit more to it. (not to mention cheaper if Murphy turns up)

Just to add to 'the pot' of your options:

Can do DP Sintered Sports HH+ pads for the DR650 SE for $73 a set.
Standard for $70 set. (Std last longer - but as you said... there's the compromise)

DP are English made, with all their HH+ pads having Ceramic Heat shields.

    Free freight through KB.

Sounds good, are sintered better for adv riding? I should add this bike does far more ADV riding than track days so it is predominantly shingle road and dirt plus I don't really anchor hard on the track but rather just fly in.

And therein lies the reason I ride a $50 GSX550 Just needed to confirm we're all on the same page.

And as for that cock sucker Murphy, when I meet him.........

Yes Sintered is good. and DP Only use the sintered process in all their pads. (Std, sports or race compounds)

    To explain sintered a little:-

DP sintered pads are made of a complex mix of metallic powders (to absorb heat), refractory material (to provide friction), friction modifiers (to alter feel), graphites (to minimise rotor wear and eliminate noise), mixed together, pressed to form the shape, then sintered at high temperature and pressure.

Given what you mention, I think the Std pads would work just fine for your application. But up to you. Knowing you have the 'Best proformance' option in when braking hard at the track (or on road), has it's place in the 'Mind games' department, even if std pads would have been quite adequate.
