    Insurance joke?

So BiffBird Mk I got biffed. Enter BiffBird Mk II. Time for a new insurance policy. So I ask Vero for a quote which was very competitive. I take them up on their offer and a few weeks later (soooo sloooow) I get my insurance cover note through. A quick check of the policy and I note that they have in fact insured my CBR1100XX BLUEBird. Ha ha ha thought I. Someone with a sense of humour, or someone stupid has made a typo. So I phoned them, had a giggle with the nice lady on the telephone informing them of their error.

Several weeks later, I get a new insurance policy. I shit you not, have a look at the attached and see if you can notice the obvious (stoopid, stoopid, stoopid) mistake. Or joke.

Are they trying to tell me something about my riding skills?

Had that person recently left school? "Blackboard added/deleted."

Does anybody know why bikes attract a 'theft excess' when cars don't?
90% of the time spent writing this post was spent thinking of something witty to say. It may have been wasted.

Yes cars do, and it depends on the car and the Insurance company.

Thought they were giving wellington a 30 point start for tonights game, they probably won't take bets on the AB games, no one would bet when the AB's are paying $1

At least your insurance excesses are less than mine - $1500 for any claim, because supposedly it's a big bike, and because of all the HDs that have been stolen in the past, and all the GSXR riders that crash, it's a greater insurance risk.

But the premiums are low, so that's a plus.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

I'm currently in the market for another insurer for the Beemer - the premiums aren't so bad ($770) but the excess is horrendous - 25% of the sum insured! And as they wouldn't let me drop the sum insured from the price I paid for it to the current market value until the policy is due for renewal (November), the excess would be $4500! The policy was arranged through the BMWOR so I didn't bother to read it all (who does, especially if you've never had a claim?), but when I put it up for sale and rang them to check it would be covered if anyone took it for a test ride, that's when I found out. AA is looking to be a good bet so far - cheaper premiums and a $300 excess.

I suppose bikes will always attract a theft excess because they are technically portable - drive up with a van, lift the bike in and you're off laughing.
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!

Try Swann $750 full comp. $250 excess on 04 Bonnie valued at $14,000. Go direct. Not through a broker

Thanks Eliot-ness, AA is $706 and $300 excess which I didn't think was bad. I tried State but theirs was $825 and $1500 excess. Amazing to think our house costs so little to insure so much - but then it's not likely to crash or get stolen, is it!

Depends. if you can get your house up to 100kph , I think it quite likely it would crash. On the other hand , if you never move the bike it's not likely to crash. Tis the moving bit that does the damage.
