    Yeah.
    Good ole DIY and "oopses".
My worst accident of any kind was caused by my socks. Nine stitches in my face, wrecked shoulder, probably a broken nose. Face hurts when the barometer drops.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

Fortunately , all the lingering after effects of my various injuries (even the scars) seemed to go away a few years ago, when I was in my forties. Sort of as if the body decided to do a big clean up and rebuild. Quite strange because some of the scars and achey/give way sometimes things I'd been putting up with for about 20 years. Then they all went away. Still I wasn't complaining.

Did you watch the recent season of Battle Star Gallactica?

Funny though, I used to have hiki type birth marks under both arms and a light red shading on the top of my chest. One day I noticed that the marks on my right hand side were gone. Even on half of my chest. Can't explain that one.

That's right Ixion, bikes are no more dangerous than any other activity we do,just work to minimise the risks. Some people are just unlucky in their mishaps, some seem to have miraculous escapes...no blame needs be appointed.A friend of mine raced speedway sidecars, his worst injury was 20 yrs later climbing over the gate onto the track.I've seen people walk away from certain death, others dead without a mark by just some fluke - a friend of mine, the most experianced rider I've ever known died on a bike...he had been tuning his carbs and put the small screwdriver you use in his top overall pocket...he layed the bike down a low speed when a driver pulled out on him - the screwdriver went up behind his ear into his brain,bizzare...but all we can say is it was his time to go.

    To summarise my crashes:

1: Went wide on a corner to avod rear ending someone thus sideswiping a car, basic mistake... was when i was learning to ride

2: Lowside at 60kmh in the Domain... I was being a dick and went a bit too hot into a corner

3: Lowside at Pukekohe coming up the hill, Went around the outside of Cycosis (a feat in itself) then forgot about cold tyres... That one was at 160kmh

4: I was being a dick on the Postie Motorbike, pulling wheelies in the wind, wind caught me. Most violent crash i have had, and it was only at 25kmh...

5: Riding a mates RGV250 to get a WOF, bike seized and highsided me on the motorway at 100kmh...

6: Lowside at Castrol, was doing consistent 1:20's on the RG150, had to happen sooner or later...

7: 600 hit some diesil... lowsided and hit a bank thus doing a few cartwheels (was pissed off at this one due to my very slow pace with Milky and Posh tourer, he rides a BMW...)

8: There is probably one ive forgotten... That one where i got rearended by a car...

Ive gone from not being able to ride a bike at all, to being in the top 10 riders for F3 racing on a stock standard ZXR400 all in 18 months, so i guess i have compressed someone elses 5-6 year riding career into 18 months...

I high sided 2 or 3 years ago and banged up both knee caps on the front wheel disk... they still hurt when I walk up stairs.
It reminds me of the good old days

I thought that was just Sparky Bills :P .... There are some nasty injuries on here... and i see majority of them are caused by dirt riding (they seem to have alot of injuries) or cars pulling out on the rider...

My only injuries have been a fractured bone in my left wrist (when I was 17 coming down hard from a wheelie) & a Skinned knee from a 100kph slide down the road when I was 19.
But neither injury gives me any trouble over 20 yrs later , sounds like I'm lucky compared to others.

Saw someone mention ACC. I got $7500 out of ACC for my leg. Paid for $7500 woth of engine parts for a 73 Kwaka Z1 I was restoring
It is better to have ridden & crashed than never to have ridden at all
