1100cc Virago = low down torque, smooth engine for a V-twin.

Repect the truth - The Matrix is life, not a movie .......
[QUOTE=Virago = Viagra]For we Cruiser riders, getting there fast with knees down is not an option, or a goal. It's a laid-back joy-ride, not a race. Short bursts of acceleration, with gobs of big fat V-twin torque (with the accompanying roar), is enough to set the heart a-flutter.QUOTE]

Heh why? I'm closer to WT (he is gonna be moving to be about an hour or so away in a week or so) and my speedo is already in miles. Just give me a good straight road for it as curves at anything above 130K kinda freak me out.Originally Posted by thehollowmen

Hmmm, I might have to sit on the fence on this one (if only to stop WT from getting near my arse).Originally Posted by White trash

My XV is stock (with MPH speedo), it red-lines in top gear at about 118 to 120 MPH (hard to tell exactly due the speedo vibrating). That's as fast as I've taken it.
The speedo is only marked to 115MPH anyway, so a faster run would require some guess work based on RPM.
Red-line on the Virago is 7000rpm, but I've heard of them being taken past 8500, so Waylander may not be too far wrong with his estimated top speed.
What revs where you pulling Waylander?
It's only the short gearing that holds the Virago back, it's got the grunt for at least one more gear. I've had mine over the ton, going uphill, with Mrs V-V and a full pack on the back (for some reason Mrs V-V likes the waves of resonating vibrations at higher revs).![]()
Can I believe the magic of your size... (The Shirelles)
Had it about 95. Freind of mine was driving next to me in a car that's how I know the speed limit.

Well you're a braver man than me - at those revs I'd be more worried about getting the rear piston up my arse! It might be less painful to back off and let WT have his way instead.Originally Posted by Waylander

Probably, but be damned if his gonna have his way with my back end.Originally Posted by Virago = Viagra

He asked about RPMs mate. I answered 95, read it as Nine five. 9500 in the revs. Come on mate it wasn't that cryptic.Originally Posted by gav

I think Mr Waylander meant that he was pulling 9500 rpm. His speedo was (presumably) off the clock, but he has equated the 9500 rpm to a speed of 150mph, and confirmed that by reference to a car driving alongside. Wonderful things speedo's equally wonderful things tachos. And clutchs. But it would have been honking fast anyway. They can do such things in the USA, they do not have Frau HelenOriginally Posted by gav

Ha, you think that hole is deep enough, or you just want to keep digging?
9500 rpm out of a XV1100? What car was alongside at 150mph? And this is with no fairing?? You're full of it, mate.....
*sigh* Tell ya what mate, when I get my bike all fixed up and running like it was before I wrecked it you get your arse up here and me and you will find a nice bit of straigh road in the middle of no where and I'll prove it to you.Originally Posted by gav
