I do not think this is correct.

The collection of ACC levies is governed by the relevant legislation , the Injury Prevention, Rehabilitaion and compensation Act 2001.

Part 6 of this Act give the ACC power to collect levies.

Levies may only be collected in accordance with the Act. There are several types of levies specified

Employer levy : collected from employers, based on payroll and industry class
Self Employed : Collect from self employed persons based on income

There is provision for self employed to purchase extra cover

Motor vehicle levy: Which we all know about
Medical Misadventure Levy: On the medical profession
General Account: A payment by the government from general taxation to cover injuries that do not fall into the other accounts.

A Rugby club will pay ACC leveis in its role as an employer. This covers the risk of injury to employees of the club only (and will thus cover injuroes to PROFESSIONAL rugby players).

There is no provision within the Act for ACC to collect levies to cover injury to non professional players, if these ar enot employed by the club

Simply, amateur players cannot pay ACC levys that cover the cost of their own injuries as part of their clubs fees because ACC do not have any legislative capability to collect such levies.

A rugby club (or any other club, for that matter) may pay ACC levies (and collect money for these as part of club fees) to cover the ACC charged against club EMPLOYEES.

First, sorry to hear about your bike dude, been there before mate, walked out of the pub to see my bike sitting on it's side. There are some arseholes out there......

Second, give us rugby players a break!, I played senior footy for 18 years, you get the odd arsehole in the game, who like to fight and all the rest of it, but they soon get sorted out!. BTW, ACC levie are built into our subs.

It's the alcohol that brings the arsehole factor out in people. Doesn't matter what background they come from..........

Sorry to hear about yr bike mate - sympathies

To blame the sport of rugby for this criminal act is the same as blaming motorcycling for any criminal act carried out by someone that might have ridden (or even only watched) a motorcycle at some time.
We dont like it when ignorance and prediduce is directed at us...why dish it out to other sports?

    Ahh. How right you are.
I've been losing weight for the last 18 months which means I don't drink - not tea total - but average less than one drink per week.

I usually go out social on my bike so rarely used to be a big drinker anyway, but sure - I know all about 'instant assholes - just add alcohol'. There's a point where you go FTS and leave the party.

Thanks. I guess I'm gonna have to work hard to get this cosmetic damage worked out. Almost all the systems are fine again.

I do respect rugby players but some of the supporters are a lil dodgy. I didn't intend this thread to become a slinging match between supporters and non-supporters of rugby. However witnesses do have the people who trashed the area all wearing blue and gold. I think you're right, it is alcohol that brings out the arsehole factor, and they're often using anything as an excuse to drink.. like the big game.

Honestly, the "Great All Blacks" ..

And Zed - punching is allowed in boxing - it's not allowed in rugby.

In theory anyway - it seems to be only a minor infringement these days, you've now got to blind the fucker and rip out a lung before you get sin binned...
So what's your beef with the game Mr Wolf? Have you been directly involved in the sport before? Have you ever played or supported the game? Or have you always held it in disdain??

Btw, you missed the *punchline* in that boxing comment of mine.

I stand corrected. Rugby players, like all other sports, rugby do not pay an ACC levy, and neither does your club. For some reason I always thought that because the subs have always been bloody high!.
