Great run through Lees Valley yesterday, the river was fun (and easy), so much fun that once I got over I set up the camera to catch me coming through a 2nd time (kinda got to capture your first river crossing.... even if it is more of a big stream).
I did skid out and loose it early on one of the gravel roads, the fall dislodged the wiring for a USB charger I'd (poorly) installed recently and 10 minutes later shorted the battery and blew my main fuse. It was a fairly simple roadside repair but man the relief when the electrics came back alive!
Probably late notice (well definitely late notice). Anyone keen to head from ChCh up to Lake Sumner tomorrow. New years day?
Was thinking around 8/830 am meet at peg?
Here at the peg. Heading on
Hope the rides went well today... If anyone is heading out anytime next week (4-11 Jan), please post I'd be keen to join ya!
Or if anyone fancies a ride post and we'll sort something out.

Can you believe this guy, I can not fathom why arytonsenna would even post on here about this sort of behavior.
It's dicks like him that are responsible for more and more of the Waimak being closed off to other bike riders because of their stupid selfish acts
If you're not living on the edge you're taking up to much room!
Life begins where your comfort zone ends!
The guy spells helmet helmut, enough said !
I think he should be paying for replanting of seeds, re-fencing of the fence he ripped up and crawled under and so on...
Fucking idiot ruins it for the rest of us. A definite wanker that has to post of his trophy ride, running a bike in, so he does it at the expense of ruining an area he shouldn't be in anyway...![]()
It is an established forest which will be milled in the next few years (nothing to re-seed) the fence he went under (figure of speech) was not a fence but a forestry gate that you could ride a small quad under, (all the gates are the same around there) As for ripping up the fence. He said his wheel caught some wire from an old fence. All those tree blocks have old wire lying about, something to be wary of. As for "ruining an area" The tracks made in there by motor bikes over the years are now being enjoyed by horse riders etc. So not ruined but developed for them by motorcycles. Yes we are not allowed in there and most don't.
Character assassination is a bit harsh, I have met the OP on a couple of occasions and found him to be a pleasant young man.

A while back, I shot up Jollies Pass with Matt and he said "I was expecting you to go up the pylon track". At that time I was unaware the track existed. I've just come back from a trip where I had a looksee... what a cracker! It is steep, very very steep, but brilliant if you like a challenge.
The name of the track is Hydro Road, more photos and info can be found here: Hydro Road

Maybe they'd done it before and decided not not to bother. It doesn't go much further.
Good to see this thread is still running. I've been out of the loop for a long time finishing up my studies but have finished now and I'd really like to get back into adventure riding.
Anyone feel like doing a vstrom friendly adv ride in the next week or so ? I'm on holiday so can do any day.
