    Speeding ticket from cameras?

Can you get a speeding ticket from cameras?

An officer came to my work this morning, said they had video footage of me doing 200+ kph from the highway cameras. How can they get a speed from video footage?

If they have 2 known points, and can measure the distance between the points, and then check the video to see how long it takes from you to get from point to point, they can calculate your speed.
I was under the impression that the traffic cams weren't to be used for speeding enforcement but maybe I'm wrong or maybe your case is special

What were they fining or charging you with? Any loss of points? Dangerous driving charges?

So were you doing 200+ kph?
Any chance say a patrol car could have clocked you then checked the camera footage later?

they must have some basis for such an outrageous accusation just ask them to see the footage, they can't deny you that privilege.

video is based on a frame rate eg 25 frames per second so its not hard to calculate speed if you know the frame rate and distance travelled

200km/hr, huh? What was wrong? Not running properly..?

On a more serious note, I suspect you may be fooked on this one...fingers crossed.

Just deny it till they bring out mathematical proof/radar reading. Then say sorry, the speedo was out and you were busting for the loo.

alas would be possible if its not digital - but digital has V.ariable F.rame R.ate as well as enhancement algorithm modes which make speeds difficult to compare.
However if they know someone is doing 100kph, and your in the same frame as them your fucked. Not for any particular speed - for dangerous driving....
