Get a fucking Triumph.
Specifically, a Bonnie.

Sharry has a CB600, and she manages it fine. Trudes had a CB900 with lowered seat, as she's short as well. She was selling a while ago, don't know what happened, but getting a lowered seat and suspension is easy enough, and the CB900 is crazy reliable.
Other option is an ER6, I know a couple of ladies with those, with short legs. Also depends what style of bike you like, if you want wind protection etc.

Earlier XJR1300. Nuff said. Tis a sexy beast, 2010 model (fuel injected) for sale on TM for $9K.
The newer Honda Hornet 600 are awesome. Have had them as loaner when my bike was being serviced. See http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...39#post1855339 & http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...09#post1856309 &

I think you'd find the T-100 will work for you, and the SE is a bit lower in the saddle, too.
I did a trip to the Burt Munro last year with some friends, one of 'em on a T-100 and it went extremely well - very comfortable and heaps of power.
If you can handle a retro 250, the Kawasaki Estrella is an interesting option. I used mine for the trip to Invercargill and it went surprisingly well, albeit with only 20 HP on tap, it's a bit underpowered. It's a great bike for 'round town and day trips (I did the Coast-to-Coast in 2009 on it, no problem)
I'm toying with the idea of selling mine (as the Shadow has fast become the main bike), so PM me if you're interested in having a look.
Trudes bike would be a great buy, Im sure it had more done to it than just being lowered?
A standard 02'cb600 (new ones are a bit tall) was tried on for size a few months ago and was a perfect fit, needed a bit of work done on it though.
Is it no longer used?
