Yes you have....http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...1739-Back-then
OMG ! Another whinge thread.
Sell the bike and drive, you self-righteous, whingeing pussy.
Have you actually got anything POSITIVE to say about motorcycling ?
Back the truck up there mate. The law is not about interpretation, it is black and white. The road code however, is only a guideline and can be easily misinterpreted.
I am not at all simple, and was indicating that grey areas may have been interpreted by others.
As described in the post you have clipped, there are no grey areas for me. Do you have a different take on the wording to the one I described? If so let's hear it.
The only other situation where I think the exact wording would apply, is if there is a single car stopped at a red light. In my opinion this is still unsafe. Passing up the left is unacceptable in any instance with the exception of passing right turning traffic, or passing the other examples I have already given (broken down car/accident/service vehicle) and extremely carefully on those occasions to boot.
Woooosh - yep right over your head.
I know I shouldn't, but here goes.
You inserted the "singular" reference, without which it (the law) is quite clear (and co-incidentally I am sure the way the law intends) so you have sought to both create the grey area and use it's creation as proof that it can be grey.
Now the question is were you a) being mischievous or b) a numpty. I'm going to rule out being smart as clearly it wasn't.
Given it was pretty disingenuous I would tend to bet against a) - only really leaves b).
And they let you drive a 20 ton truck?![]()
'Vehicle' is already singular
I inserted it to stress for others reading the thread who may have believed it was ok to pass multiple vehicles in this manner.
I think it might be you who has bitten the wrong end of the stick. Given your almost illegible posts, I am trying hard to not believe that as a 'mentor' you are advocating passing on the left.
(and they let me drive substantially more than 20 tonnes, just happens that was what I was driving at the time).
btw:- you are talking about 'the law' yet quoting the road code.
(That said, I won't be biting again. Crawl back under yer bridge mate)
You choose to interpret the law that way. Doesn't mean you are right. That is why issues around lanesplitting/filtering are known as a grey area.
FWIW - one could imply that if passing a single vehicle on its left is quite legal, then to pass the next vehicle ahead is still passing a single vehicle. You just happen to be passing a series of single vehicles. But if there are already 2 vehicles side by side in the same lane, then you couldn't pass them on their left.
See what I mean about 'grey'?
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?
