    Good news about my Betty

She's going - the spark plug had come loose - like completely off. Mr CSL & I fixed it today. Yay.

Although don't feel quite so jubilant at the moment cos of wots happened to Stoney.

Just goes to show. here we all were prophesying ddom and gloom and wrecked engines. And it's just a spark plug. So much for all the expert mechanical diagnostics

Good news about that at least.

So you'll be back riding now.

The thread in the head OK? Or was it the plug itself that came apart as they sometimes do with the porcelain bit separating from the steel bit?
    Cheers

The whole spark plug was out. Although it was pretty dirty, I think I will need to buy a new one.

Thanks all - yes I'll be out riding soon

Could be a cracked head allowing the plug to come lose when engine is hot. Not uncommon on multi-valve heads.
