All the guys I know had their stuff done through here, bit of a pain to ship it and you're best to get quotes for return shipping yourself as there prices were high, but they do a great job and the one barrel which I have seen fail they replated for free even though it was used for competition

There was another place in the USA that was good to and if I recall their name I'll post it
Right, these guys are meant to be good as well, however I don't know anyone personally who has used them

thks for the links and info, dont worry about the postage thing as i may have to send them to uk or usa? but NZ is closest so want to know all options! thks again. keep swinging mate! just keep your arse off the bitchem! LOL.
There is no one in NZ doing it, all the places that advertise it send it off shore or at least they used to, there were two places in the land of OZ doing it and I wouldn't recomend either of them as I've heard nothing good about them, although someone else may have had a better experience
yeah i have heard that the oz platers were crap thats why any body into bikes? sends them to USA or UK, was hopeing maybe some in NZ, but looks like there isent, anyway still looking for some in NZ that knows alot about porting so if anybody knows anybody? please post.
thks.
There's a company in aussie that advertises in Two Wheels or aussie motorcycle news that does nikasil/ceramic
Think a friend used this chap
CMS but he specialises RS125 but you can ask.
I've heard of 3 platers in Auss 1 is good.
I've used US chrome they are good. Really for RGV porting you are best to go to some market where they do a bunch of it (no RGVs in US). Stan Stevens or Bob Farhnam in the UK are the obvious & offer replating.
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.
Porting an RGV. Now there's a can of worms. Everybody will have different ideas, and abilities to produce a result, and the chances of getting exactly what you want aren't good. In NZ the only person I'd trust would be Wobbly, him of BSL fame. On Nigels bucket(RGV250 barrell) the results almost exactly matched his calculations and work - 32hp at the crank he calculated and it dynoed at 27.5hp at the wheel, from 100cc. Keep in mind that EVERY piece in that motor was modifed. It also has a VERY wide powerband, Nigel only uses two gears on Mt Wgtn kart track
I'll PM his number.
Modifying a 2-stroke engine involves a lot more than just getting a big file out and attacking the ports. Carbs, reed valves, compression, pipes, and possibly ignition/pwr valve controller are the most obvious things that need consideration. You may get results with a mild port job but if that's all you are thinking about you may as well keep the motor stock but in prime condition and go for some good running gear. Good well setup suspension will get you round a track faster than a few measly, possibly hard to use, extra horsepower.
Dremel tool makes it easy. Unfortunately , the optional PutItAllBackAgainOrAtleastTheBitThatWasTooMuch optional attachemnt is VERY hard to obtain. Especially on a plated barrel!Originally Posted by speedpro

Not to sure about porting though... possibly get the rest of your bike sorted before porting anything.
www.rgv250.co.uk is probably the best along with the Aprillia forum.
Not much mentioning of porting there despite quite a few getting a reliable and useable 75hp dynoed.
Aren't you in australia?
I heard there was a good company 'electrosil' or something....
Thks guys for all the info and links! some ive heard of before and some not!
in answer to ppls questions/comments on the rest of the engine and bike!
yes many things have and will be changed on the bike! the only left oem is the bottom end (coz at this stage its ok) it will have worked barrals and replated new pistons change of heads and squish and of different thickness gaskets, Fz boyseen reeds, Dave Cooper power valves, std and kit spac (depending which way i go for porting?) change of pipe once run in, modified suspension all round, bigger brakes. Not much wont be done! lol.
thks again for ppls comments and help.
All the best!
