    What the!

Can anyone tell me about the new barriers on SH1? They start roughly around the Te Kauwhata turn off and carry on to the new express way before the dragstrip. They are what seem to me to be a weave of steel cables and steel box section poles.

Surley these are just temporay, aye?

I mean, just look at them, a gaint f*%king human chip maker!!

Do you think they consider motorcyclist's when they build these f$&king things?

I think they are either permanent or part of the government's 100 year SH1 widening plan....... that road has been under repair for ages.......

Cheesecutters, they are called. And the are permanent. And many representations have been made to Transit. And they do not give a stuff. Prepare to be chipped.

who has a gas axe? if they somehow always fall down and need constant repair the cost of new safe to motorcycle barriers will start looking good to the government

they have them on parts of the new stoke bypass near me. People don't seem to think of bikers when they install theese things (or vote to have them). I'll tell you what though, they do a nice job on writing off the cages that hit them

and that's why the use them - not to slice up bikers - but they stop cars better than armco or concrete - which can launch a vehicle cartwheeling into the oncoming traffic if the impact is just right (or wrong).
The cable fences drag the car to a stop with sudden friction and there is less liklihood of a head on. Small comfort.

they did tests in Germany where they fired cadavers at these thimgs (only the germans) and the result was very much like a cheese slicer.

    Be careful out there.
The real mystery is how come that fat bastard Hurley has never lost any weight.
