Why is some of the engineering on a Guzzi pure genius while others is WTF were they thinking?
Is that an Italian way of "teez characto-inductiono into zee modobyke..." ?

It is because all Italian designers go down to the trattoria for lunch. There they drink wine. Much wine. After drinking much wine, the world looks a good place, and then they go back to work

So, the WTF engineering is what they do in the mornings, sober hungover and miserable. The engineering of genius is what they do after lunch, inspired.

It is not just Moto Buzzies. Alfa Romeo have the same characteristic, no doubt for the same reason. I believe that Lancia engineers often had to be taken back to the design office in wheelbarrows.

Yes - there is a constant paranoia riding classic bikes. Whats that noise, I'm sure it wasnt that loud last time, fuck this why don't I get a honda, shit this things going good - I wonder whats wrong with it?, when did I change the oil, whats that???, have I got my cell phone?

just joshing.....My Ducati is form over function with a 16 litre tank and a thin narrow seat..... oddly despite its orchestra of odd noises has never left me stranded...

I went to Italy to visit a process cooler factory and the workers all went down the road to a large cafe for lunch....lots of pasta..didn't see any wine....
The Sales bloke took us down to a Trattoria where we knocked back a bit and a wheelbarrow would have been better than the walk back......think we signed off that all was good

I'd take an 037 if we're being greedy. Was having a dribble on a replica 037 and Stratos this weekend at the daybreaker

The Stratos had the same V6 as the Ferrari Dino IIRC ..
Remember as a kid seeing one of those racing in NZ at the world rally champs. What a noise !!

Anyway, back to Guzzi's....the price for a new one, Paul, is horrendous !!! Plus a second hand one is unobtainable. So looking to adapt a Duc one.
Mr WOF dude is saying after 4 years of the same kms reading on speedo, it's starting to look a little suss and I really should get it repaired....

and Willy.......as nice as the VFR is, won't be too long before the Eyetalia bug is hitting you for good.....
It never leaves, despite your best methods too.

You want to ask on one of the Septic Guzzi boards, someone will have one.

    What part is it exactly?

It's the plastic worm drive for the odometer of the Veglia Borletti speedo.
Well known in the V11 fraternity for failing.
Had a good look around the world to no avail.
A lot of people use bicycle odometers instead.

Mr Kelly said he could do one for around $600 !! ,...that is if I can get one...
Hmm,...as the rest of the speedo (speed and trip) still functions fine,...I can't quite justify that.
So gonna try a Ducati one for $100 and a bit of DIY....
Will probably break both and end up buying that new one anyway...lol

Yup I had a Strada and a Cali 1100 in the 90's.. they do indeed get under your skin. The FIX? Buy an MT-01, but otherwise the new Breva Sport 4v head looks a nice wee tool.
