    Speed Camera Vans

Don't normally speed (much) but been snapped twice by a a van from head on in the last 2 days. Ironically in the exact same place.

First time I was kicking myself for not looking ahead far enough to see it. Second time I was specifically looking for it but still didn't see the green van in the green trees on the green lawn in low light. It was right in the trees too.

Anyway I am riding past with a big ole grin thinking thank the lord I am not in the SS or I would be spitting blood right now. But a biker friend wiped the smile off my face. He recons that they can still get you by eyballing the number plate from the rear.

Anyone had similar experiences. I think he just tweaking me, but?

have you got either of these two tickets? that answers your question..
by the time they turn around and grab their pen and paper, then try to focus on your ever-getting-smaller plate, you'll be long gone.. Going the other direction (so passing them, not going head on) could be another story. I don't know about those.. Head on, prob not..

    welcome btw

I've heard a similar rumour, but I think it's pretty unlikely

True - that's a long story but that's why NOW you don't get demerit points.

    Cool

If you do get tickets, then write to requesting a photo.

The photo's are free to get.

Cos as I understand it, if another vehicle is in the pic then you wont get a ticket. They blacken out the other vehicle's rego plate.

But you will have a nice pic of your bike.
Or if it aint your bike then you tell them it aint you.

I doubt those dudes in the vans are even watching whose coming and going anyway. My mates dad works for the transportation department and aparantly, those vans are kitted out with Sky TV! What loser would be sitting there watching cars instead of the TV?
I also heard the van drivers are usually officers who have been unfotunate enough to become unfit for there primary duties, normally due to injuries etc.

I've been pulled over by that prick before! I was doing 140. However, he told me its my lucky day because he couldn't get a reading on me.
Worst part was, I was doing 110 and noticed this guy slowly coming up behind on the motorway, I gave in some more (120) and this guy was still coming at the same rate, so I gave it even more and noticed he had sped up to match. I just thought it was some arsehole so I left him well behind. Luckily for him, he only managed to pull me up because of the lights just past the Petone indoor action sports centre.
Man, was I wrapped to keep my 0 demerits in tact.
I think its a white Navara this guy drives, I've seen him pull up heaps of vehicles along the hutt motorway.

There was a red ute with a white canopy in the Hutt for a while, and the speed camera van they use up our way is red. The worst cop is the one from Sanson - he got me in a mufti car that looked like a family saloon! Coming towards me, no other traffic on the road, locked on from quite a distance away and just let me go for it. Then had the cheek to tell me to have a nice day - prick!
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!

another heads up..there are two white Commodre S models with the rear spolier operating on the Hutt Motorway..saw them near Ngauranaga the other day....I rode up behind him and saw the lights and hawk pointing out the back window and went past at 100kph....driver had the reflective jacket and everyhting....sat there for a while at 100 with the commodore behind me..a cage volvo came up behind and pulled into the outside lane and shot past...and got nailed... best laugh I had in ages
