What is a hav a go day?
1. for people to take road bikes on track?
2. to try get people to join club?
3. to get people to strip their good rd bikes down to race?
4. just for fun and meeting people with common interest?
5. fund raising for clubs?

I once asked why is there not more of them(south island) and was told that they are only for ago to get people to get into racing. But i dont know many people that want to strip their good rd bikes down just for racing and from what i understand its not cheap especially if you are keen on 600cc or 1000cc Whats the go???

some places have different ideas about it. There are track days, where the public can try their hand at the local track (I have many times, and will many times more), and then there's groups/clubs that put on a day where you can be encouraged by pros in the sport to try their thing. The last one I can remember not too long ago was a sidecar event at Taupo. You went along, they told you about the sport and how it works etc, then they take you on the track and hang off the side and 'have a go'.. Don't know if you got to drive too, but it's often based around 'hands-on' experiances. Call the local track manager and see what they've got coming up, if you have something in mind to try out.. or they can point you in the right direction

All the above,yes 600/1000 would be expensive to race in but despite what MNZ would like to think not everyone is interested in those classes and there are other classes that cost a lot less to compete in and are just as competitive

As to why there aren't more have a go days, it takes time,money and manpower to organise them and the clubs are also busy with doing their own race meetings

If you want more track time every Tuesday and Friday are multi hire days and $50 gets you an afternoon on the track

I just think they are good value and it is good to see performance st bikes out there having a go. iv been to a couple of week day track days as well but is not the same as with lots of bikes. and Fair enough clubs are in to there own thing just wanted peoples opinion as to what they think its about or what they go for. be good to see racers out there on st bikes as well showing us rd riders the hot lines.

One thing that pisses me off about them is the last one i went to i got black flaged for doing wheelies by some one eyed twit that told be to fuck off if i was going to carry on doing that at the track, then ya get fuckwit coppers that tell ya if you want to do that sort of thing piss off out to the track and do it.......WTF am i ment to do?? i guess its fun at least untill i get black flagged? what happens if you ignore a black flag?

Everyone,and I mean officials,spectators,the chicks making hotdogs - they all stand at the side of the track and give you a standing ovation because you are such a fucking orsome rider - but you know that anyway,the clapping is nice though.With a bit of luck there is a talent spotter and he'll sign you up for Yamaha,they need to give that dork Edwards the flick,get someone who can ride.,but take it easy on Rossi eh?...he's only a kid.

Yeah Mark can come across a bit cranky some times but if it turns to custard and someone gets hurt they're the guys in the firing line

Perhaps you could ask the organisers for a wheelie comp down the front straight in the lunch break, they did that one other time,that's if you make it past turn 1

Whats A class for?............its not that i dont like the day or anything, but its good fun to get out with ya mates and have fun, im not interested in racing, and multi hire days are ok, but its so much more fun when ya can go out the night after and talk shit about what ya did on the day, if all i was interested in was lap times i wouldnt bother going, wheelie comp is a good idea, but expensive day to do a few wheelies, my only real point is no1 caters for people that just want some fun, where the fuck do i go to do wheelies ....and im sure i will make it past turn 1...at least a few times anyway smart arse
