And get locked up for some fancy term.

Yes, either wasting police time or aiding and abetting the commission of a crime perhaps.

Yet another way the Nz government are using to spend all our money.... DAMMIT! If you going to drink and the cops do catch you, you're lucky they did before a tree or something else did... As for telling us that unmarked cars will be around is that not the point of them? so that we are unaware of their presence? makes good proper sense to me . Still i suppose it's the thought that counts.

Is it because they're planning on catching drink drivers by blending in to the traffick and purely just looking for cars that are swerving all over the road? Surely our policing isn't that bad yet? That's the only explanation that I can work out as to why the cars need to be mufti ones.
Well, if I was a cop, I reckon I would park the mufti a short distance away from the pub, close enough for me to see who is leaving but not so close that drunks would notice a cop sitting in the drivers seat, there by alerting them to the presence of the filth. Then I would simply start picking off the drunks as they left the pub, couldn't do that with a marked car.

More simply get someone to park or just stand opposite the car park, and radio the details of cars leaving for marked cars to stop. Don't see any objection to such tactics m'self. Leaving pub = implied likelihood of having been drinking. Only question is how much. Moderate drinkers will pass test , topers won't. All good.

Becauase of a lot of people go to have a meal and a social drink. Moderate intake, or a non drinking driver. Bit tough if you couldn't ferry granny and the grandkids down to the pub for lunch on her birthday ?

    Hypothetically speaking of course.
I guess that sounds semi-plausable. Do you reckon that's actually the reasoning behind it though that's going to be put into practice?

It's what John Bailey was advocating for 30 years.
    Speed doesn't kill people.
    Stupidity kills people.

It is not a crime to stagger when you walk. If they draw the incorrect conclusions...
Remember the main rule when dealing with the cops, especially if you are a naughty boy. Keep your mouth shu - don't make it easy for them to bury you
