MMMMM!!! Can't comment really but depends on the conditions and as mainly as a pillion I have to trust my partner. Just as an aside all these senior managers that think they need to go on these so called "confidences courses" just need to get to be a pillion on a bike going 200 km + down the back straight and around the corners at Puke without s...ing themselves. Then they will know what trust is all about!!!

Small and dangerous with a sting in my tail!!

    according to my gps...
    109.8 SH1 porrirua to wellington
    74 average commuting speed
Taupo to wellington at night and rain all the way 101.3 average
Passing another vehicle... no idea whatsoever I may speed but I don't ride dangerously (i.e. i concentrate where i am going, not on the speedo). I think the 400kph max speed on the gps could have been a glitch, but the next highest, 165 was probably when i was on the track... who knows...

I have to confess to a slightly high speed on a closed road with medical facilities on hand, 195 k's two-up in third. But in my defence, it was done to show a Harley rider what performance was.

    Open road between 100-130
Riding with a group....100 to warp speed.
But for me top speed is not as important as having fun on the twisties.

Ride the back roads from Cambridge to Work (Hams), lots of high speed where possible. 160+. Although corners are more fun than straights. Even crap cage drivers can go fast in a straight line

Suprises me how open people are here with their speed on public roads. Call me paranoid, but I know of at least one non-motorcycling cop who keeps an eye on this forum for ride dates etc. Maybe he can't do anything with the info, but I'm not risking it.

He's still got to catch you in the act and any posts bragging about speeds achieved could be described as an exagerration in court.
And if there are cops lurking here for that purpose, they really need to get a fucking life and go catch a burglar. Either that or keeping wanking over the porn on their PC.

Don't really think it's a big deal , mself, though I guess the point is valid. I make sure not to say WHERE I open up, and it's only in places where I'm VERY sure Mr Plod is far away. And never on motorways or in built up areas. And I don't ride on organised rides.

As to incriminating oneself, well it would only be relevant if one got caught and argued that one was not in fact speeding at all, and never did . Then I guess the plod could point to the KB postings - " See y'r Honour, he DOES speed, he's admitted it on that there bikie site".

But they'd first have to figure out who was who. And , anyway, I think that arguing is pretty pointless if you do get pinged. Cop's going to have radar or laser to back him up, or else your speed is going to have been so very excessive it's not really arguable. Bite the bullet time I think.

And as to cops watching the site for "tipoffs", I rather think that most cops are smart enough to figure that people who own bikes capable of 300kph are almost certain to speed sometimes. Doubt we're giving much away there. And 'tis not practical to stop them seeing the ride announcements.

In fact, they don't even really have to prove anything. The courts work on the basis that the cop doesn't have a vested interest, he's just doing a job, so the burden of proof is on you, who they're less likely to believe, as you do have a vested interest in the alleged offense.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....
