I'm pretty sure road tyres are harder than race tyres - they sacrifice grip/stickyness for toughness so that they last longer.
On the track they only need the tyres to last 22 laps or whatever it is and they need all the traction they can get, so they make them out of a softer stickyer compound.
So using a road tyre on the track or getting rossi on a bike on a road tyre isn't going to make the tyres wear out faster than a race tyre. Unless they're softer than race tyres, which I don't know if you can get.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Make sure you drill little holes in them to make em look like they've got wear markers..

Hehe, bro you do realise they are riding on a tyre compound designed to only last one race right? If you rode that same compound on litre bikes on NZ roads it would tear chunks outta it!

But I suspect that a comment like that could have something to do with anadequacies else where??? (PT)

Why do you need to buy a mordern litre bike?

If litre bikes cost the same as 6hundies, and tyres were free.

    What would you be riding?
    Because I can...

    No thanks Mr poos.
If I did I might start questioning why I would want a litre bike.

No but it's makes your day givin' litre bikes the learn on a 600. Nothing better than watchin a thou owner get all rubber lippy cos he got duffed up by a little ol' 6hundy.
Superdukes. Serving up shame to sportsbikes since ages ago.

All this bull shit about adequacies, i know a few chicks with 1000cc bikes, what are THEY making up for??? I used to look at old fucks in there BMW's and Farrari's and say that they were making up for a small peka, but i was just jelous, im stating to think the same about people who knock 1000cc sport bikes, i think its them with no balls, and wishing they had what it takes to ride a fast bike......

HAhaha its all about likeing what you ride. I dont care if a 250 stuffs it up the inside (it would be useless of them if they couldn't do that). Just watch out when i get to a bit i can use my bikes advantage. everyone likes to do different shit. I like rear wheel steering but cant do it on a 600 on the road but on a 1k its easy. Sure you are down on mid corner speed but who cares if thats your bag good for you. Have a go on everything you get offered. Dont knock someone elses shit til you have tried it.

    Interesting huh,
    Not really.
I've always liked mid range bikes because they suit me.
Thou's an the like suit other people, more power to them I reckon.
But one thing thats always amused me has been a couple of mates that got so many tickets on their 1000/1100's that they gave up riding all togeather.
Wouldn't go down on CC an couldn't control their trigger fingers on the big bikes so today they ride a car
The EX Wicked was like that I reckon, couldn't work out that you can enjoy yourself on ANYTHING,,,,,,,If your a biker.
