I know that 6undy's are bloody quick now adays . But what they make at the motor 1000's have 20+ more Hp at the wheel . Most people that I know that ride 1000cc bike's can ride them not just in a fast line either . And those that ride 600 ride very fast do so because the bike lets them though excellent handling as with the 1000's . No choice has to be made on size to make anyone else happy just yourself at the end of it .

3 weeks on a 1000 and I dont think Id go back to a 750 again, let alone a 600.! So easy to ride for lazy old pricks like me! Dont think I'd ever get up to your guys pace though - too old, blind,stiff....

but i don't HAVE a penis? [or a litre bike, as is meant here methinks] ----- nevertheless, MY 5 cents worth is, after owning my [not-quite-litre]bike for only a few days i am DRUNK with the power of her and would have to be dragged kicking and screaming back to a less powerful bike

    so there

Totally agree with you SP , Having tried a sports 1000 I found it so easy to live with , You don't even need to ride it properly to carry along at a cracking speed. You could be so lazy with them , didn't need to use gears , just use the rollon power. I just didn't enjoy riding as much as a result, but any advantage a smaller cc bike had around corners , was made up within a few seconds on a straight. Is this real motorcycling ? , not sure , make's it too easy , and as a result you don't get the best out of a motorcycle. I think I had the most motorcycling enjoyment carving corners on a 250 two stroke , Ducati that I have currently is great , more in an on throttle / off throttle kind of way. Sounds awesome , better braking and cornering.
Probably a small hand full of Kiwibikers that could get the most out of a 1000cc , I'm not one of them , value my life and others too much for that.
Having said all that , I'd consider one , not for ego reasons , but for the purerly for the reason they are so easy to ride and live with and can carry plenty of luggage.

I hate running machinery at capacity.
The harder you work it the sooner it will fail.
A 1000 ridden at 75% will (on the balance of probability) outlast a 600 ridden at 90%

Run a 1000 OR a 600 at 75% and you'll either end up walking, in jail, occupying a hospital bed, or dedicating your physical form to the Earth as a greasy monument to wilful overconfidence.

I know allready that I can ride like a nanna so a 600 will suit me fine

For those of us who aren't short and featherweight, litre bikes are good machines, practical in the respect that the engine is more durable than a smaller one that makes the same power but at higher revs.
