85KG sounds very light. Once again, knowing nothing, I google. Something called a Lambretta GP200 has a dry weight of 123kg - probably 130 wet. A Vespa PX150 (looks like a "traditional" scooter), 116kg wet.

    These are comparable with lightweight 250cc motorcycles (SRX250 , 130kg )

Wheel size is actually irrelevant, it's overall gearing that matters whether that be done with a small wheel, or a small sprocket , result is the same.

But - all such arguments don't really amount to much. Thing is , do you enjoy riding it . Whatever *it* is. I've had great fun on a 50cc. And a 750cc. If you're having fun, that's all that counts. Scooter or superbike, it's not whether A is faster than B or not ; it's who's having fun . , it's all good

Mate, your arse must be sore from doing all the talking. I would suggest quietly giving up before digging yourself deeper. I don't class a scooter in the same group as a motorbike and I sure as hell don't believe you are faster than a 250cc. A gn maybe but you WILL be shot down in flames if you continue to prove your habit of verbal diaorrea.

Guess thats good for a scooter. The last 2 motorcycles I bought, which I still have, cost all up less than 2 grand each to be totally road legal. One puts out around 75 hp and the other 37 or thereabouts. As mentioned previously having fun on them is what really matters. Met a few scooter duds and dudesses at the Cold Kiwi and they were a nice bunch of folk.

Edit-I do like the concept of a spare wheel/tire............

well, just to stop the mud for a sec or two, JSG and myself both ride ZZR250s. Certainly not the fastest, but I can't really say how fast it is coz I haven't ridden anything else. Roll on is pathetic we know that much, having chatted about it.

If you get good drive and short shift the first gear or two (seems to actually work better) it isn't a slouch off the line for a non-performance 250. Accidentally dragged a late model holden once (not 100% effort and it happened because we were both trying to get into each others lanes ). No figures tho, JSG might have some.

Ok, you can get back to it

WHEEL SIZE IS VERY RELEVANT , BIG WHEELS TAKE MORE ENERGY TO GET UP TO SPEED

saying your bike is very capable, well any inline4 250 4stroke is very capable of beating a lot of bigger bikes if you add nitrous systems an thousands of dollars of other shit ot make it go faster.

dont brag about what your scooter is very capable of doing, brag about what is does do

my bikes, cbr/nsr both 250s will both take a dump on your scooter, or any scooter ive seen, an who the fuck wants to ride an auto anyway, or a scooter, there gay in big gay letters.

Yeah but the after market boys are already on the case (see two brothers site). I'm seriously thinking about the ZX10 for next year. The Gixxer was tempting, best weight to hp but $23k?? don't they know they are right out of the playing field? Need to see the ZX10 bike reviews first. And why have kawasaki withheld weight and hp figures? Their silence hints of a cock up.

People are funny buggers Mark. They winge when the Suzukis are 18K, the new model comes out and SNZ listen to public opinion and wont drop their pants on the prices, keep them aligned with their competition, people still winge.

Personally, if in the market for a latest litre bike REGARDLESS of manufacture, I'd pay the $1500 extra for a good deal lower weight, and substantialy more power. Just so hapens that in this case, the Suzuki is top dog. Next year, the Kawasaki may well be worth $1500 more than the Gixxer. We'll see.

Edit: Have you sold the 636?

Hi ya Jimmie. good to hear from you its just not the same down here without you. I have no doubt the 05 Gixxer is the pick of the litre bikes on the road. Don't tell those Naki guys I said that. Someone told me NZ isn't getting the yellow/black which I like the most. We are all wingers mate you know that you're a salesman.
Now keep this quiet and off the internet Ok. the Honda wouldn't sell so I was forced to flick on the 636. Bloody shame I loved it and reckon I put in some of my fastest times around Manfeild on it. Forgot it had a lap timer!!
Had to work really hard today to re-learn stand up wheelies on the CBR. After watching you and Dion doing standups I had to figure them out myself and the 636 was the bees knees. Get down here sometime soon.
