    Blocked out mirrors

    Hey team
I picked up my new bike on Saturday, a GS1200ss so am well pleased.
However upon toodling down the highway I found that the mirrors were quite blocked & full of...elbows! Being of a wide (muscular ahem!) build I found even after adjustment it took great contortionist skill to peer back behind me.
Has anyone found this problem & what could I do about it ie after-market products, spacers etc etc?
    Cheers Mark

I have that issue, so I just lift my elbows up to have a peak. The mirrors on my bike are quite short into the bike. The 05 bikes solved that, but stuck 'em too far forward imo. Anyway, pop down to the local bike shop and see what generic aftermarket or mirrors from other bikes, fit. You'd be surprised how many types will fit one bike. By going to the shop, you could have a look at a few pairs to get the right size/shape etc

or just lift your elbows when you need to look

Might look into getting a set of those when I get my new grips. Just looks cleaner IMO.

Attach a mirror to yor helmet it'll look silly but at least you can check for unsightly pimples as well as dangerous drivers

then you try filterin thru the traffic.. depending on the value of the car you scrape up will depend on how many points you are eligible for.. Mercs, Bimmers and Jags are around the 50 point mark, the a sliding scale down from there. Cars with scratches all the way down already are remarked, but halved, since it's no longer a virgin car..

could always get a little cam fitted by the number plate, and a little screen on the dash

You should angle it so you can take a long hard look at yourself.

Why would I want to admire myself on my bike?

Have seen on the web somewhere spacers for mirrors for some models. May be some around for the GS.
