If you are charged under that section you will go to court. The cops don't have the mandate to dish out on the spot 10K fines.

I didnt think so, but being 15 and having 2 police officers turn up on your doorstep while your folks are at home, you believe anything they say.
To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods

You can't say "well it was one of us but I'm not sure who" can you?
I had pretty much this happen with a company vehicle.' It was "my" car, ie I got to take it home. but during the day heaps of people used it. Keys were just left at reception and anyone who needed would grab them.

Got a call from the cops, "Someone reported rego no xxxx doing naughties. Who was driving".

After asking round, I had to go back and say "I know it wasn't me, but we can't identify who it was" .It was quite a few days after, and no-one could remember, except (presumably) the naughty person, who wasn't fessing up.

So there was a bit of mild threatening, and in the finish , I paid a fine (which the company paid), but no demerits or anything.

Dunno if we could have got out of the fine, just wasn't worth pursuing. Wasn't a very naughty though, $100 and something fine.

(emo) Winja you little fuck, revenge modding is bad.

I disagree strongly with what you said, and I think you're just trolling, and I said so.

So why do you disapprove of my post?

Fucking revenge mods.. go shove your house up your arse and paint your own roof you little cripple.
    /emo

There.. glad to have got that off my chest.

Yes, I do agree that police officers have some choice, so stop hassling the good guys, dig out your tickets and go complain to the bad ones?

    Hi Scooterboynz,

After working my way through this thread, I would suggest that you follow the advice of the cops here on KB. They KNOW the law (unlike all the Bush Lawyers here.) The thought of a large fine is not good.

Just supplying the info DOES NOT GUARANTEE a prosecution. Sufficient evidence is needed before a prosecution would be attempted. If it is the result of a *555 call with no officer present, the chance is sweet FA.

To the cops on KB, ignore the hecklers. Remember the old saying, "Empty vessels make the most noise."
Keep the shiny side upright, Rhino.

Nice trolling mr33, gutless and non compo mentis is your moto!!

Real bike riders have better things to do!!

And BTW, last time I paid to a "revenue gatherer" was in 1987 - 196kph.

Since then I have figured that those that pay to 'revenue gatherers' are nothing but poorly advised and poorly observant riders.

Well, I had to look up "non compos mentis" - "not fit for trial". What trial would that be sir? "gutless, spineless and scraping" - hit a nerve did it sir? Not what you like to hear sir? I can only deduce that you're a cop. "Scumdog" - mmm... a word you aspire to sir? I really would have thought a streetcop would be sick of dealing with shitheads and scum(criminals) on a daily basis. Perhaps you really spend your days insulated in head office eh? Spend a lot of time insulated in a highway patrol car too eh? Own a cool pair of shades sir? Leave the down and out work to the mugs eh? "Scumdog" - a word that describes your character sir?

As a ex-cop (not of the traffic variety) my advice is to just ignore it, someone is just having you on. It may be that the guy you passed doing warp factor 10 got a bit miffed and has sent it to you. No police letterhead, no file number = no official letter.

If is is the Police, which I seriously doubt, they will send you a reminder.

Sorry if it offends but I'm afraid that is bad advice. Section 118 notices aren't on police letter heads and they don't have any file numbers on them.
