    Bike or car?

    The Virago will do it in almost exactly 4 seconds, according to test reports (I've never tried it myself).

    We have a Daewoo Lanos that will do it in slightly less than a fortnight.

    Tis funny, I picked up the new Fastbikes mag and there isn`t a single litre bike doing it in under 3 sec`s. If I had the mag with me in this internet cafe I`d post the figures, but 2 secs for a CBR1000RR, you`d need wheelie bars to keep the front down. And that`s the problem with getting any road bike below 3 secs, either traction difficulties or keeping it from looping itself.

    My Mirage can trap 100 in about 4.2 seconds, haven't officially measured the YZF750R, but I'd imagine it'd be similar, possibly quicker due to the lack of gearchange.

    Seriously, how would you time it accurately if you wanted do it yourself?
    The only way I can think of is with a movie camera which also picks up the speedo or with the assistance of a friendly cop.

    Various magazines put the Blackbird at between 2.8 and 2.4.

    That said even magazine time can be different as it depends on the country/model, the year and if they are carb'd or injected and/or have smog gear and obviously the rider too.

    The new BMW K1200R does a rather nifty 2.8sec 0-105km/hr time. Not bad for a naked me thinks.

    But what about you? How long does it take you to get from 0-100km/hr? Surely this would be a prime time for those who have modified their bikes to exaggerate too. And compare the stats from a stock model.

    A standard gillera runner does 0-100km/hr in 5.1 seconds Just though you might like to know that....

    Gn125, only went to 100 once, didn't time it.
    Fzr250, hrmmm. maybe I'll find out in say two to three months.
    Recently Cleaned carbs with new seals, so I would think rather fast!
    But really, who knows?

    0-60mph (0-100km/h) = 4.1s
    60ft = 2.13s
    330ft = 5.4s
    1/8mile (200m) = 8.15 @ 84.9mph
    1000ft = 10.95s

    Something went wrong with my timing computer, the 1/4m (400m) registered in @ 13.97s, these figures are heading to a 12s 1/4 mile. You can usually extrapolate the 1/4 mile by multiplying the 1/8 mile time by 1.5.

    Too much vibration caused the timer to do funny things. I ended up with about 2 odd results and a whole lot of "failed to reach 30mph" readings from around 6 or 7 runs. It's much easier on the drag strip, but they can't tell you your 0-100 time.

    1/4 mile is a better way of comparing performance anyway.

    The Gixxer is supposed to be a <11s bike, but to launch those times consistenly requires some skill & practice.

    So much variability in all those magazine tests...

    except for the old atmospheric conditions, rider skills, etc....there's also the fact that some of them are done on a nice, sticky dragstrip, and others are done on coarse chip seal. Makes a fairly big difference I think. It's fair to say that most newer 600's will get to 100km/h in <4s if pushed though.

    hmmm

    i've chosen the 0-100 in 5-8 seconds, pretty sure my gpx can/will do it.
    can't say I've timed it, would be gd to get an actual time though, wouldn't it?

    bah
