futher. I have 3 bolts on the tube. I left one loose on the inside of the tyre and 2 are on the outside just to hold it on..

I think a new addition to the mega maintenance thread is in order

That doesn't sound right. Do you mean clamps like in off roaders? Or the nuts on the valve stem ? Either way sounds wrong.

EDIT: Reads later saga. Oh dear. Not sure what happened there. Tube repairs are usually straightforward enough, I just hate doing them because I ALWAYS skin my knuckles on the tyre levers. Which is why I always take them to a bike shop nowdays. They have those wonderful machines that full the tyre off and put it on. And they can rebalance the wheel. For a few bucks it's not worth messing around doing it oneself .

Oh well it's all experience. Part of the wonderful variagated tapestry that is biking.

    Windy this morning, wasn't it.

    edit: tube, yaaay
*respect*. I have NEVER seen anyone rip a tube clean in half while still inside the tyre! And you didn't rip the valve stem out , which is what I thought. Dunno how you did it, but it's impressive!

AND a seizure just to top things off. You sure know how to put the mf***ker in it's place

    thats true indeed.

on the valve there was three bolts. I find out now you tighten them up to keep the tube in place and the valve from moving. one goes inside one goes outside

I guess they threw another one in for good luck

The third normally goes outside, as a locknut. I assume you mean nuts, not bolts.

That wasn't what went wrong though, if that had been the problem, you would have ripped the valve out of the tube(which is what I thought had happened, at first). Your valve stem looks OK

Oh well, it's all good fun.

    Those are great
To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods
