Believe so (Nikasil incidentally - I recently spent ages trying to Google for some info using Nikasol - there's just enough out there under that so that you don't realise it's wrong, but not enough to be useful)

nikasil is there anywhere in new zealand that can do this from what I have heard you have to send you barrels to the states to get it done.

Don't believe so. I think there is somewhere in Aust, but I've heard uncertain reports of them. It's not just a matter of finding someone who claims to be able to do it, but who actually can. And whose work won't quickly die. Even BMW stuffed up plated bores on their small six cylinder car engines, so it's not simple.

A friend of mine has a rotax barrel with a chip in it that he got for free, but has no way of repairing it and what it costs to get a barrel sent to usa and back to get it lined he may as well just buy a new one....

I started on a CBR400 and am now on a FZR400RR (with a 600 top end) The fzr is a great bike my only warning is if you are learning you may want to go with some thing not so crouched in. I belive if ya needed to get off this bike in a hurry it would be harder than most.

Well, Two Smoker is pretty damn fast (and only been riding for just over a year!). Incidently, he's racing in F3 at the mo'.

Re: the question about the RG150 vs RGV150: yes the RG is the sportier looking one (Full fairings, liquid-cooled, mag wheels).

If you do buy an RGV250 make sure you get someone to have a look at engine internals (e.g. powervalves, rings) - you don't want to have the thing seize on you!

Thats probly it then Its great to have because it helps the barrel from losing HP as a 2stroke heats up it loses HP, quite a lot too on a cast iron barrel when you first kick it over say your getting 20hp when it heats up your looking at around 18 which is quite a lot when your racing, correct me if im wrong please

If thats the case - dont even get a fast 250 cbr/zxr/fzr etc........everyone i know that has been in your situation and has bought a 'sports bike', has crashed badly.
Buy a road bike that you can sell again for relatively the same money (GN250/RD/RZ etc naked with stuff that wont break off) then in 6 months get a RGV250 or similar.
While it doesnt make much sense now - you'll thank me after you have dropped a slow bike on 3 corners.
Think about it - which trail bike did you learn to ride on? The brand new DRZ400?

Ill raise that to $200 or $300 if he gets it going, $400 if it has a WOF and REG
