    Bike stand

I needed a bike stand to hold the bike upright for minor work, oil and filter changes etc. Had a length of 8" x 2" under the house (that's 200 x 50 mm to all you younger types) so cut two lengths about 1200 mm long (that's 4 foot long for all us older types), screwed then together, cut them down to the size that would lift the bike when placed under the frame rails (I think it was about 170 mm/7 inches), routed a recess to take a 1" BSP plate socket, drilled a hole through the wood to take a 1" pipe, screwed the plate socket in place and voila!

Slide the wood under the bike, screw in the pipe through the wood, lever the wood upright and the bike lifts it's front or rear wheel off the ground depending where you placed the wood under the frame.

    and lift the bike

Unscrew the pipe and I can slide the lot away in a gap beside some shelves.
There are two songs, "Stairway to Heaven" and "Highway to Hell" which I think give an indication of expected traffic flow

    Huckery bastard.

Works though. And about $200 less than a shop purchased equivalent.

    Nice work.

Not a bad plan for a bike with horizontal frame rails and not huge ground clearance, I'm always a fan of a low budget solution, lots of home made things in the garage to solve a particular problem.

As far as lifting the bike goes, I just bought one with a centrestand instead.....

Bit more elegant than my old one: https://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/s...e-my-new-stand

(Now use two regular paddock stands I got off TradeMe. The jacks have moved on to other things.)
Measure once, cut twice. Practice makes perfect.
