I'm telling ya, Ma Nature's declared war on bikers. We're just lucky that so far she hasn't been able to round up any troops bigger than birds and bunnies.

i saw a piccy in a performace bikes magazine a few years ago , was an R1 with an owl smashed into the left hand headlight, it hurts enough when a stone of the bike in front hits you somewhere through your leathers let alone an owl!

I really don't know what it is with the wildlife lately, I havent hit any on the bike, but most are suicidal. Maybe it's spring/summer, they're out shaggin, and are just young and dumb? Perhaps we need to teach them abstinence, could show pics of Birds shattered on bikes...

I HAD 4 FUCKING NEAR MISSES TODAY WITH STUPID BLACKBIRDS AND SPARROWS AND SHIT. I THINK EVEN TWO MAGPIES GAPPED IT INTO THE MIDDLE OF MY LANE TO EAT SOMETHING OFF THE ROAD, I HAD TO HIT THE ANCHORS BUT THEY ONLY JUST GOT OUT OF THE WAY, LIKE THEY USUALLY DO. PROBABLY PLAYING CHICKEN OR SOMETHING.

At least no one let any large mammals on the road though

    What do you do?

I sound my horn if I see the wildlife on the road, and botton off. Has saved me from hitting a few hawks. Seems to wake them up and get them moving.

Must be a NZ thing. Most the wildlife I ride towards run away under fear that I will place them under apartheid.

I change down a gear and sit in the power band. The noise seems to make them shit their feathers.
I wonder if I can use that excuse when Cops pull me over?

Yes. I'm glad that wasn't me that got hit in the head. That one (pheasant? hawk?) that flew in front of me on way to Coro almost gave me a fright - I must have nicked its tail feathers, but it happened so quickly there was no time to react.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....
