steering damper advice....

i am thinking of getting a steering damper for my bros650 because i nearly lost it today doing 1*5 k's around a corner with my knee and peg nearly down i was kinda scared after that soooooo, what do i kneed to do to get one, waht brand and ofcourse how much will it cost and is it worth it....

or i could slow down.......... yeah right.

Your most important consideration is colour. I'd recommend anodised purple, very stylish.

Seriously though; what happened? And how will a damper help? You got the wiggles mid corner?

some bumpy bit majorly unsettled it and i've been told a steering damper helps keep the front end settled, i thought i'd ask here as i dont realy know any thing about them.....anodised purple wouldnt suit it :spudwave:

I will agree with sensi...I have a ohlins and ride the legend slapper bike...worth the coin...buy it once and fit it to every other bike u own...they are 100% servceable by robert taylor in NZ

dude.
A bros doesn't need a steering damper if it's set up properly.
are the tyres the right size and profile?
is the front end carrying the right spring (and preload) and oil level for your weight?
is the rear shock the same?
are your tyre pressures right?
honestly, if you can't answer those questions, a steering damper is a BIG fat waste of cash.
get someone good to set up your bike for YOU.
better use of your money, but not as BLING....

i see what you mean badcat, my tyres are good, my suspension is not..... it has been made lower for the previous owner and the rear shock is a bit soft i dont yet know how to adjust it maybe i should get some help with setting it up....i am 5'9 and 55-60 kg [not to sure now]

and yes sniper you have an extremely good point i should slow down but i dont want too

i think i should maybe sort out the suspension first.....it also has different rims to a normal bros, and the tyres are different profiles,[eg 17 inch front and for some reason a very odd 150/60-18 rear, it should be 150/70-17] it still handles really well and the tyres now have scuff marks all round

I don't think a steering damper would really be necessary for your bike DL. They're normally only nexessary on bikes with extreme steering geometry and big power (Kwak ZX10R for e.g.).

Unless you're getting truly wild on the gas on rutted, bumpy tarmac in damp conditions, I wouldn't have thought you'd even come close to a slapper.

A bit of feedback through the bars is all good...nice to know what the front wheel is doing.
