Hehe, yep, would be nice, but I can't think of anyway to effectively police a system like this... Hehe, might make it unprofitable again, and they might go back to busting crims for a change.

Ah... now here comes the other part of the plan.

Would you be willing to pay... for example... $150 a year to be able to ride / drive 30kph faster than everyone else?

I would. And there's the revenue they'll lose from speeding tickets, and the coppers are now free to catch some bad guys!

Jesus man... I'm solving all of societys problems now! Next stop... religion.

Don't even try with religion, I had a go here, and they just won't listen to sense. I post as VTEK here.

I believe that religion pays a part in society, in the same way that sex, drugs and alcamahol do.

I should've changed that to "so crims (and beneficiaries) can give it a right good rogering".

From what I can tell benefits are what breeds crims. I'll make a list

DPB: Kid's with no dads, seem to be severely prone to getting on the wrong side of everything.
Dole: No point working when the gubbermint will fund your crime syndicate.
Sickness: Just another name for the "Dole" for many on it, (not all) I just happen to know a few examples personally. In fact now that I think about it, everybody that I know on the sickness benefit should not be on it.

And all for the measly cost of 13 Billion of your dollars a year. Bargain... Probably up a fair bit this year aswell.

Some might say that this is a damaging generalisation about beneficiaries, and I'd agree with you. But it's about time that we made taking a benefit to be shameful, as it should be a last resort. I could say heaps more but I'm going to stop here.

Yeah, sure. Car and motorcycle technology has come a long way but NZ roads haven't. As they are, the roads aren't even safe enough for the current limits. Crumbly, narrow, tar snakes etc.
Still, I know I'd like to go a bit faster...
    Keep it rubber-side down...

Haha, read the rest of that paragraph for the answer. And cause I was feeling annoyed. And cause generalising saves me saying "but not all of them" after every single sentence.

Disagree. NZ roads are imcomparably better than they were when I started riding. If we still had roads like then, there would be NO sprotsbikes around, be cause they wouldn't be able to hack the roads. Outside town centres and urban city areas ,and a few main state highways, was all gravel. Back roads, not even gravel

State Highway 1 was single lane, and narrow lane , no passing lanes, no signs for corners, most bridges were one way(or non existent - try fords folks) , noone worried about pot holes cos there were so many, and the prevalence of gravel meant that almost any corner, even on a sealed road would have gravel on it.

You young fellas don't know you're alive, with the race tracks we have nowadays.

Shit I miss those old roads !

You're bloody lucky to only get fined $170 - I got fined that much for doing 123kph on the Himatangi Straights, which is a 100kph zone. I find it hard to believe you thought a coastal road so close to a city would be 100kph - if I were you, I'd accept the fine and get over it, from what everyone else here is saying, your fine should have been much higher.

How do they decide the fine? I thought it was a set fine unless there were factors that added to it, like no warrant or rego, not the right class of licence, etc.
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!

I was busy today ,,err working and I came across this ,,,I posted it in another thread ,,but it makes interesting reading so ill post it again

check out something called the 85th percentile and see canada for common sence

Also greece I was a mechanic for a couple of years on one of the smaller Island and the young lads there had wayyyy to much testosterone ...now check the Stats for drivers 15 to 24 in NZ greece and Japan ,,.it seems like the generlisations we make about young thugby boof head boy Racers are true ...

It also seems very clear to me ,,that in order to keep the tax rate and the books in order Helen , is hiding the cost of the transport dept ,,, in Road Tax ,, eer fines ...

Made perfect sence to me ...I mean the better driver you are the more confident you will be AND tend to drive for the conditions ..SO will be slightly higher than other drivers ...BUT appear less in the accident reports ,,,ie SPEED doesnt kill ,,,driver road placement and Road conitions will ...

Here in japan we dont have zelous taxation ,,,and the 15 to 24 fatality per km was lower ..NZ 22 ..Japan 13 ...greece 29 ...

So Helen ,,a cheque is on its way to pay my part of the tax in oerder to fund the dept ...So I can drive normally when I come back for me holidays
