OK, The ultimate answer to this we need Mr Bikeycop and Mr Nodman. Do they take their lids off when they go somewhere (gas station etc) on duty? If they do, I will. If they don't then obviously the helmet itself is not intimadatory, so requiring me to take it off is discrimination

FWIW, I usually do, just because I feel a bit twittish talking with it on. But maybe not if I'm in a hurry.

And does it make a difference full face or open face?

And what about if I pay at the pump ? And don't go inside at all?

I don't remove my helmet when going into a station, too much of a pain. Don't really have a specific local either, just fill up wherever. That said, I normally aim for the Mobils because they have EFTPOS at the pump. Nice and easy.

When I do have to go in, its visor up, and card in hand. Tried smiling, then realised the breath guard kinda gets in the way...

I think BC cheats as well. IIRC, he has one of the helmets where the whole front lifts up How awefully practical...

edit: oh, for other places, helmet off. Usually going to be longer anyway...

I've got a flip lid and I've never been asked to remove it.

    Helmet off

Hey I was at a Mobil station a couple of weeks ago - not where I usually go - and I pulled up, got off the bike, and opened up the tank, put the nozzle in and pulled on the lever.
    No gas.
Tried again, no gas. Looked over at the window, glass reflection, couldn't see anything. No one came out, nothing.
    Tried again. no gas.
    T H I N K S - D U H - maybe better remove helmet - did this, and tried the lever again.
Glorious Gas a-plenty. (not your kind, Sarge! LOL)

And then, when I go in, this unsmiling young woman in a Muslim headress says in this really disapproving, bossy voice, " NO HELMET ON "

so I didn't reply or anything. Just paid and left.

Something is dehumanising - and it isn't me... !

I look up and the chick behind the counter proceeds to tell me she will not serve me if I dont take the skid lid off.

I said "Oh, is gas free today?"

NO! Take the helmet off, didnt you see the sign on the door. Staff might think your going to rob us.

I said "and make a fast get away on a scoota? With company sign writting on it and me. How many times have you heard of someone robing a servo with their wallet and a $5 note?"

I dont care take off the helmet.

I said "I dont think your going to be any happier if I do, are you sure."

YES TAKE IT OFF (I rearly hear a woman say these words, in hind site I should have started striping).

OK I says. The problem being, I always wear a balaclava under my lid (easyer that cleaning the lid).

So here I am standing at the counter in the servo with a balaclava on.
And I say "ARE YOU HAPPY NOW!!!!!!!"

All so I could give her a $5 note.

And as for the bank, they just lock ya between the glass doors....

PS, Does For Sex also include when your getting screwed by the cops?
lol... in that case I'll either take my time and put every thing down on the counter 1 by 1.

    or

I'll just leave the $5 note on the desk and walk off... cause you did pay them and f#$k all they can do about it.

    I have
on the way *out* of countdown by a security guard *after* paying.

    Ain't been back there.

I take it off if asked, but if I've got cards in one hand shopping in the other, and am told to take it off I will stay at the counter to take off my diskman , scarf, beenie, helmet ... and put them back on again.

    Oh yeah.
Down here at BP they won't let you in with a helmet on and they won't use the night pay window even at night.

    i feel sooooooooooo discriminated against

if i've only got to get one or two things i'll regularly wander into shops, chemists, filling stations, the post office .. with my helmet on ........

and i've never been asked to remove it ..........

......... obviously i'll have to practice looking menacing or something

    mutter, mutter, mutter.....
