    Firm for transporting motorcycles

    Heya,

I'm very seriously considering purchasing a large capacity sports-tourer at the moment but it is in the Bay of Plenty area.

Are there any good firms which can transport a/the bike down from there to Wellywood that anyone can recommend.
I know you'll say don't be a blouse and ride it down but I would rather spend a weekend going right through it before commencing such a ride.

    Whatcha reckon ?

I used Biketranz recently. Wgtn to Akld, but they go all over. Heard various opinions about them but they came through good for me.

Brett , 0272204436 I think. Not cheap, but less than the cost of fuel down and back. And simpler

I rang Biketranz and they quoted $200 which doesn't seem bad at all.
They said the turn-around is 7-10 days which is a wee while but I could probably live with that.

But,...looking at some of the previous threads, there seems to be a few people NOT recommending them.

    Well,....

I have now enlisted Biketranz to do the job to collect my new mount.
The gentleman on the phone seemed to be very obliging and the price was good compared to the transport firm.
Basically going to take a week to get the machine, but that's fine with me.

I told him if they do a great and satisfactory job, then I will give them a positive and recommending write up as they seem a little concerned about the bashing of their firm on here lately.

    Cheers

    biketranz

i used them last week - to bring my sr500 from chch to auckland.
they were picking up multiple bikes from emoto - all headed this way.
they gouged me $390 - WITHOUT INSURANCE.
i thought the price was far too high, but had no other option.
the bike arrived fine though, and it arrived when they said.
4 weeks ago, i brought 120 kilos of bike parts from dunedin for $168.
i expect a premium for something as fragile as a bike - but $220?
    thats just taking the piss.
I am Jack's complete lack of remorse .

    Alrighties,

I booked BikeTranz last Friday saying I wanted my bike transported from Tauranga to Welly. They said can be done by next weekend (this one coming up). I told them that they had a fairly average reputation here in the KB Forum and if they delivered on time I would give them a favourable report. He sounded quite pleased and said I would be very satisfied.

Now the seller hasn't heard from them yet (for arranging a pick-up time).

Should I ring them tomorrow to check that they are indeed going to deliver as promised this weekend ?
Or just have faith in them providing the service as expected.

    any haulage company

but get a crate to put the bike into. Its both cheaper on shipping costs and safer for the bike

I'm interested in a de-rego'd race bike, can't ride it back. Also it'll cost more flying over then riding back and catching the ferry

Well, I used BikeTranz and they were very satisfactory, so I'll recommend them, but some here won't.
