Ducatilover says in a previous post that his bike went into a slapper, the tyre sizes are non-standard, he doesn't know what the susp settings are.
Then a week later he tries to take a bumpy sweeper at 160 k's plus.
He had his warning back then.
    Speed doesn't kill people.
    Stupidity kills people.

    Exactly........
To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods

Firstly, like everyone I'm very glad you survived. Secondly, odds are you won't survive much longer unless you face up to something that you are denying -- "and there musta been something wrong with the bike too do that". No mate, there's nothing wrong with the bike (or nothing more than their ever was). The reason for the bin is simple - inexperience. Excessive speed, not watching the road surface. Not saying it can't catch out the most experienced and catious rider in the world. But : an inexperienced rider, riding (illegally, though I don't really think that's relevant) a bike too powerful for his skills, overtaking on a corner (always iffy), not watching the road surface, dubious tyres, unknown suspension settings- mate, it wasn't if it was when. I've been watching for the post and praying it wouldn't be real bad news.

Get back on a bike as soon as y'can, but get some training. Do some of the roadcraft courses, think about why there are rules about learners, and speed limits and such. And also that you are really important ALIVE to a lot of people. Just make a little picture in your mind of your Mum opening the door and seeing a cop standing there - and her face, because she knows what the cop's come to say before he says it. And her sitting crying at the kitchen table , with the family gathered round trying to comfort her and knowing there is no comfort to give. I've seen it too many times - don't want it have it happen. Back off the throttle , next time , you might not be so lucky.

Nana has spoken. red rep her all y'want.

i had been carefull to not do the dumb thing i did, i have passed in the same place both ways quite often and have never hit these prticular corrugations.
oh and beemer, if you think i'm a dumbfucktard fair enough i wholly agree with you, but honestly i cant see anyone being a saint, so i had a decently close to death crash, it happens, you get over yourself first please. i was not bragging about passing a car at 160kp/h. i easily could have opened up sooner and come off on the rev limiter. i suppose i am an eternal idiot i n your veiw eh?

nah, it happened pretty fast. all isaw was blurred grass, sky, bike flying, grass sky, grass, fence, smack, thank fuck for reinforced leather jackets. it just happens that this is my third major back injury in four years. i got x-rays this morning and fuck my back is bent, but i am alive and that counts for something i suppose.....

that picture went through my mind as i bounced/rolled etc, it was not a good picture. you have a good point about the bike though, and the inexperience. the tyres though are the appropriate size for the rims. the bike has aftermarket rims so it has an 18 inch rear, instead of the standard 17 inch rear. i also just got the suspension settings changed and the fork seals replaced and the back was great but the forks were noticably softer. i am restoring the bike and am going to ride more sanely. i kinda appreciate my life now

crash - sorry to hear that
ripples... - could have avoided it
2 weeks after you bought it - should have known it better
160km - passing a car and going into a corner... are you stupid or what?

    that was then...

    here you are now....

    ALIVE.

hope you LEARN from it and can tell the same story to your grand kids someday.

yeah, i learnt a lesson.....now i am fixing the bike on $90 a week.....its gonna take quite a while...... that corner is easily taken as a pillion at 200kmh+ on the old mans fj1200 so yeah, must be that certain side of the road, cos my bros did handle better than an fj1200

No it does not. If his 16 he will either realize that fuck I have realy done something stupid or be of the opinion that we should all go fuck ourselves as he knows better.

But I think he realized he has done something stupid and was giving another chance its now up to him to do something about it.

ducbro, my sympathies for the bin and subsequent pain (both physical & financial). I won't jump on my high horse like some others here... doing dumb shit is part of growing up. I've done it, they've done it, it's called LIFE. Hypocrites.

I'm just glad all the bits that mattered came away alive.

Best of luck with the rebuild of body and bike.
