    How to be controlled

Apparently Canada has a new system that prevents speeders from speeding from inside their cage. All I can think of is the numbers of times that cranking hard on the actsillyrater (makes you act at a silly rate) is the thing that's got me out of trouble....

    This looks dangerous to me.

I had a jap import van that used to sound a bell every time I exceeded 100kph, at the time it was really annoying, but these days, with zero tolerance enforcement, I spose it could be a good thing
Much prefer the cruise control in my old Prelude when travelling any distance
Some jap import bikes have a red light in their speedo for the same reason

Yeah - we had a Capella that did that. Great car but bloody annoying.
I got it removed for my wife's birthday (the removal of it actually was her present).

    Best $50 I ever spent

Well, the article just says that it makes the accelerator hard to depress. So you can still use it as normal, but the extra pressure would alert you. If it were adjustable it might not be a bad idea. There have been many times when I've realised that I have inadvertantly been speeding (usually when I see a cop - Oh shit how fast am I going). With modern cars and bikes it's very easy indeed for speed to creep up by 20 or 30 kph. And if I am over the limit, I'd like to know it - so I can switch to alert-paranoid mode! The Uberfarter for instance it's very hard indeed to tell the difference between 100 and 130. And if there is a tail wind 130 can feel like 100.

The article wasn't clear on whether the gadget was smart enough to dynamically figure out what the speed limit was at the point that you were - which could be handy too (though a simple light would be better than fiddling with the throttle). It can be quite hard sometimes figuring out what the "current" limit is.

ROFL - SKC had a school bus that used to bleep after 80Km - Now trying to put up with that on a 3 - 4 hour journy from Auckland to Mt Ruapehu going 100Km/h

But I'm sure they would all find a way, eh?
Those who insist on perfect safety, don't have the balls to live in the real world.

i think it is a good idea.

I (We) (my wife drives it all the time but I do drive when we go somewhere together because, after all, I am a man) own an ageing Nissian 2L and even in that it can be difficult to drive at 100k/hr. I often find myself doing 110-120 because its easy.

I wouldn't like to see this system on a bike cause I like the bike to do exactly what I expect it to do. Would piss me off if I required a little more go and the throttle suddenly felt like a rock.

    Bugger.....
To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods
