    Your Bike vs Your Licence

This has come up quite frequently as of late that a few people have asked or presumed that I am only on my learners/restricted because I own a 250.I can see how they come to that conclusion, but its sad that most people with a 250 are automatically classed as a learner or restricted (Most of them are I know).

Im have my Full licence and the only reason I own a 250 is because of an accident that put me off bikes for a while and when I went to jump back on, I wanted something fast but not fast enough to shake my confidence. The thing is, I have owned a 400 before and that was fun but why a 250 to start off on again? My reason was that it was fast enough to be fun but slow enough not for me to shake my confidence

So, why did you get your bike on your licence? And are there others riding 250's (or smaller) on their full?

I'm a nana when it comes to high speeds (so I'm not likely to kill myself), but I like the power and comfort of the bigger bikes. Styling comes into it too

On a related note - nothing but respect from me for knowing what you like and doing that, against the usual flow of powering up through the engine sizes. Do what you want to do.

I'd only riden 250's and wanted a stepping stone into the bigger bikes, i want a ZX12 but thought going from 30hp to 110hp was more sesible than going to 160hp or what ever the 12's are, plus the VTR isn't that much bigger than a 250 compared to big inline 4's

I ride my 400 on my car licence I never really have been that bothered about licences anyway. Tends to be when I have the money I have no time but when I have the time I have no money!! But when I met Stu, the whole learners/restricted thing didn't even cross my mind, I feel it is more a horses for courses kinda thing, and a CBR250 is probably a lot quicker than my bike anyway.

just cos you drive a Ferrari, doesn't mean you have to drive at 300kph everywhere just cos it can.. same with bikes too, just cos you ride an R1 or ZX10 etc (or 636), doesn't mean you have to nail it everywhere. Just use the power how you need. I find my 636 is awesome around town (not many bikes will put up with putting around in 6th at 30kph), but then in the country, I know that the bike will entertain and look after me.

I got the bike cos it's sexy, and a 6 hundy is more than enough for most people on the public road, and especially for me. Don't need a thou to loose my license.

Can do that quite easily on 'most' 250's these days anyway, even a GN (in town). 50kph over the posted limit & you're walking (soon to drop to 40k ??)
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

I got a 350 om my full license being as it was
    a) what I could afford(well not really, but I managed it anyway)
    b) comfortable to sit on/move round on etc
    c) enough for what I wanted
Its also got enough go to see me walking home if I so choose. Why didnt I choose a sixhundy/thou ? Didnt need to and am secure in my masculinity. More power to those who have a bigger bike.

So, if you wanted to go from 30 to 110hp, why did you get a VTR? It's less than 100hp.

I had a 175 and then 250 when I first got my license, but then my penis shrank till it was only 11.3 inches or so, so I had to get bigger bikes to compensate (500, 500, 750, 1000, 781). If it keeps shrinking, I'll have to get a RocketIII.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

Well,I've certainly got my full licence - I got it when they posted it out automaticly on your 15th birthday.I ride a 230(225 actualy) and it has the same power/weight ratio as my previous 750,so I'm not disapointed in the performance in any way.Bikes are not an extention of my ego,but they are certainly an extention of my personality...if you can see a difference.

Yep. Ratty is a 250. Got a coupla 750s too, but Ratty can be just as much fun. Got him cos he gets 90mpg, and costs a shit load less to repair than a BMW, if some dipstick backs into him in the parking lot. And he's faster through heavy traffic, cos he's small nippy and fits nicely between cages.
