    How to keep my Licence?

Ok I've just been allowed to get a new ride and gone and got a 08 ZX10 But going from a tired 1989 ZXR750 to the pretty much brand new bike which is only 20 odd years difference.

So the bike arrived last Friday (1am) thanks to Scracha and Toast who brought it down in the van for me as they where coming down for the last Manfield round of the VMCC to race.

I've been out for a few quick rides, family first and all that and man this thing flys.... no effort at all to get me into trouble with the . So trying to keep my licence is going to take ALOT of effort.

I cant afford to get a radar detector … and suspect you guys will say I cant afford not tooo

But all you guys and girls going what about the ZXR? Dont worry its being turned into a post classic racer

    Awesome purchase!!! Congrats!!

Prob pay to get a detector. My partner rides a ZX6R, he is saves his speed for the corners and the race track, so my other suggestion is to stay in the speed limit if you cant afford to lose your licence.

    All the best!!

Its the ease at which it gets up to speed is the problem... no effort at all.
    Thanks though

Ha ha Nick, you're fucked. That bike is so deceptive that both Toast and I thought the speedo was reading about double what it should.

I'll take her off ya for about 10 grand once you lose your license next month.

    You're fucked!!

With only 25 points left on my licence, I am very careful what speeds I do and where. I would HATE to lose my licence!!

Have you got a birthday coming up? If not beg for an early Chrissie present and go get yourself a detector.

Can really understand the problem, went from a GSX 750 1986 TO 07 1250 BANDIT.Way easy to hit 130km without realising it,and more if you really want to.I am looking to see if my radar is required. But usually remind self to slow and ride about 110km,but if someone is ahead will try to keep up,did that going to Napier, was happy to sit behind a car at 125-130km.

get an eye test - if you need contacts : get them

... and then keep your peepers open and your brain switched on while you ride

Total cost about $200 and as an added bonus you get to avoid "coyote ugly" syndrome:

A situation encountered after a night of consuming alcohol whereby a person, usually male, wakes the next morning in a strange bed with a sexual partner from the previous evening who is completely physically undesirable and sleeping on the man's arm. The hapless male would rather gnaw off his own arm than wake the woman and have to face the ills of his intoxicated choices the previous evening.

Oh yes im quite aware but I don't have the same feeling that I need to speed on it, I just feel like taking it easy and enjoying the ride you know.

Dude, I was riding it home from Hamilton in the pi$$ing rain $hitting myself as it wasn't my bike. Wound up throttle to about umm...1/3 of way round in 4th gear to pootle past 4 cars. Pulled in after final car to see digital speedo reading 2something. Toast was the same as me around town with it....2nd gear lumbering along feeling like 30k's on any other bike....again speedo reading 80 or 90. The engine, good fairing and tallness of that bike all conspire to have you thinking you're going way slower than it really is.

There's no way in hell I could own that bike for a week and still have my license. There...I've admitted it.
